I’ve never installed a bug shield on a previous vehicle, but am considering one for my new KR. Do these work? Any ‘gotchas’ I should be aware of? TIA.

I don't intend on getting one, but will have PPF (paint protection film) for the full front.

I plan to have the 3M paint protection film installed during the pre-delivery visit at the dealer. 8 inches at the leading edge of the hood and roof. $240 CDN IMO is a fair price for the 2 strips. I prefer the film over the plastic guard as we had the guard on a previous truck and debris collected underneath it causing corrosion.

The only thing a bug deflector deflects, Is the money out of your wallet. Had one on a truck and still got bug splats on my windshield.

Good feedback. Appreciate any other comments on the effectiveness of these.

I've had one on my 1997 F150 and does an excellent job of protecting leading edge and easy to install but this was before I learned about doing a clear bra, which I prefer. I'm putting PPF on all frontal surfaces including headlights, mirrors and misc. other areas. I think it works better but truly more expensive.

My experience with bug deflector (Not F-150 specific) is it doesn't really reduce bugs on your windshield, but it does protect your hood from rock chips pretty well.

I have had the aeroskin hood guard on my trucks. I am waiting for a chrome one for my 2021 but they are unavailable at the moment. The bug deflector that is raised off the surface, I found it hummed and made lots of noise while driving. Went back to the Aeroskin flat on the leading surface and have had no problems with them.
