I searched through the forums first to see if anyone else had this happen and was not able to find a discussion on it in any threads. So, here goes. I have a 2022 PB XLT and the plastic mount part for the High-voltage battery temperature sensor broke, partially. We were at a campground and I parked it at night with no warnings. The next morning, I started it up and got high temp warnings on the high-voltage battery coolant system. I looked at the HV reservoir and the fluid was low, so I thought..just get more fluid. So, I did that and when I filled it, the level kept dropping and it was dumping fluid on the ground. I went under the truck near the driver side passenger door and saw that the temp sensor was just hanging in mid air and not connected to the mount port on the inline tee connector on the coolant line, so all of the coolant just poured out on the ground. Luckily, there was just enough of the mount left that I was able to push the sensor back into the mount and then I secured it with zip ties. This worked to stop the leak and the warnings reset. So, I took it to the dealer ASAP and the part number that they said is needed, ML3Z-18B402-NA, is on national backorder with no in stock date available. I told them to not mess with my zip tie fix unless they had a replacement part. The hose didn't fail, just the sensor mount port on the tee. So, I am now driving it with my fix in place until I get word of the replacement part being available. It seems very unusual that the mount would fail just sitting over night. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how long did it take to get parts and what part #s were needed? It makes me hesitant to drive it, especially to tow my trailer, until it gets a permanent fix. I've attached pics for clarity.

I too would like to know if that sensor threaded into that T?

The factory hose clamps on both sides of the coupler definitely imply that it's a hose barbed coupler with a round sensor port.

It's the FIRST I have ever seen reported on the forum. Similar to the exhaust heat exchanger tubes, it's maddening that a $5 plastic part would be "on national backorder".

Your roadside fix might look messy, but in reality it's probably very sturdy!

According to the PIDs, that coolant temp is never more than the 100/teens F (like 118 F)

Sometimes this search motor can find a hard to find part at a dealership somewhere. Not so for ML3Z-18B402-NA. ?

Hard to tell from your pictures but it looks like the sensor is treaded into the plastic tee and probably barbed on the hose sides. I would think if this is the case you could take the tee to a plumbing supply store and match it to a brass tee and never worry about it again.

Something similar to this.

Thanks for the idea. From what I could tell from the broken mount, it looks like a twist and lock connection. My truck is still under warranty, so it limits my choices to Ford approved parts or they won’t

Thanks for the reply. From what I could tell from the remaining portion of the mount, it looks like a push, twist and lock. Like you said both sides of the hose connections look like barbed hose couplers. The confusion that I have with that part number is that the images that I have been able to find show it as a whole hose assembly, not just the tee.

I am glad to report that with the help from this forum, my pickup has been repaired. After I wrote this, a social media specialist from Ford Corporate replied and I contacted them. They assigned a customer relations specialist at Ford Corporate who took over my case and located and tracked a replacement part. The part arrived at my dealer on the 27th, four days from first contact with them. I had my service appointment yesterday and they replaced the whole hose, which included the broken tee connection. After I heard that this part was on national backorder, I was dreading how long this would take to get fixed but was very pleased with both the support from Ford Corporate ( through this forum ) and my dealer to get the new part and a service appointment to get it done within 9 days from my first post.

That's not what fifteen different dealers told me when I called them about ordering the part.

It wasn't just the plastic piece, the replacement was the whole hose assembly that contains the plastic mount. The whole hose is on Backorder.

He has a Blue Oval Ax to grind here (on the forum)
And I defend his right to do so.
But context is context.

Your story is one where everything was handled the way it SHOULD be. By all parties. Good stories are real too.
