I am consistently have my 12v battery read 12.4 volts about an hour after driving. This seems low to me. It seems like it ought to be 12.6 or 12.7. It’s the original battery probably about a year old. What should the voltage be?

Are you getting any weird issues? Deep sleep mode? Approach lights not coming on? I had all this on my 22. Resting voltage was 12.2. Changed battery and upgraded to a H7. No more issues. Stock batteries seem to be crap. Mine was 1 year old.

Google says 12.6 or better. Anything less battery is only at 50% charge.

That’s what I’m thinking. It’s a Motorcraft AGM. Something seems flaky to me.

Done a lot of battery SOC% testing here. With the crappy standard H6 they gave me, (with all the toys of the KR it should have been at least an H7) disconnected from the truck, I get 12.5/6/7V, SOC 100%, health 100%. The moment the battery is connected again, voltage sinks to 12.2/1/0.

When using FORScan or FDRS, I can watch the voltage sink to 11.7, therefore I always (best practice) connect it to a power supply to feed in a constant 13.6V when mucking around with software.

There was one time I ran the H6 down so low that it wouldn't crank. Since then, I've always left it on a charger for the week (it is a weekend-only truck usually); it has never failed to crank since then. I do carry a lithium jump starter in the truck because I just can't trust if/when this battery will fail. If I needed further peace of mind, I really should fork out for an H8 but I'll flog this H6 until it's out of electrons ?

I have a little switched volt meter and a few extra outlets attached to the under seat battery (supplies the computers when the truck is not running). It seems to always read 12.3 when the truck is off, but the second the power is turned on the DC-DC converter on the powerboost bumps the voltage up, and it has never failed to start on the factory batteries (built in Jul 2021).

I've had a 12v fridge hooked up to that battery for the last week, running 24-7.

Having said that, I drive about 30 miles a day minimum, and rarely does it sit for more than a couple of days. If it does, I either shut off the fridge, or add an extra battery
