I was just wondering what others think of the auto brake hold feature. I don’t know if this is available on non PB models, but mine has it. At first I did not like it much. It was a pain when I would try to creep along somewhere, like the touch less car wash for example, while going through the undercarriage spray.

Anyway fast forward a few months and I have now found it to be pretty useful. As many PB owners know, you have to sometimes almost stand on the brakes to hold in traffic light stops. Now that I am used I to it, I find the auto brake to be very convenient. I am now sold on it. My only complaint is that you have to turn on and off through a menu. I like my wife’s 2020 Accord Touring turbo which has a button on the center console.

My usage sounds the same as yours. Didn't like it at first, turned it back off. Then got tired of having to use so much pressure to hold the brake when stopped and turned it back on. Now I've gotten used to it and like it, but I do wish I could let the truck creep instead of lightly tapping the gas to get it moving. This is especially annoying when parking or making multiple slow speed maneuvers. And a button on the console would be nice... I think most other brands with auto hold give you that.

I like it on mine.

I don't trust it.
The normal brakes in these truck I believe are "fly by wire" so a failure could happen even with your foot on the brake. Because of this I don't find the auto hold any more risky than keeping my foot on the brake.

That might be true but I'm old fashioned and like to have as much control over my truck as possible. I never use lane centering but I do like adaptive cruise. I enjoy the 'driving experience' and don't want the truck to take that fun away from me. Cheers! Have a great day.

Ensure you turn the auto stop off before using a car wash. Car wash will create a fault

Love it esp for drive thru or waiting long traffic. Wont come off. It is interesting when I hop in my other vehicle which doesnt have this feature. I def prefer it.

I used this for the first 2 months until I rear ended someone when merging on a highway from a stop.. the guy in front of me slammed on the brakes as he was half way into the merging lane bc they were avoiding someone who crossed into it at a high speed as they were merging.. The truck lurches forward hard depending on how you feather it.. and in this case I couldn't tap dance fast enough to stop before hitting the guy.. I didn't have proper spacing obviously, but it can be hard to manage the spacing in traffic if you are using auto hold. These trucks are extremely expensive to fix and I'm just not going to trust it again. I have a dash cam now to prep for the next incident.

When you switch vehicles do you have a problem with the difference between the two, like forgetting one doesn't have brake hold and you find yourself creeping at stop lights? Similar to having a column shift on one and floor shift on another and grabbing for the column shifter when in the vehicle with floor shift. I've done that numerous times.

Dash cams are well worth the money.

Brakes in the trucks is not a "Fly by wire" system. There's still a master cylinder connected to the brake pedal. In a brake system with "Fly by wire" there's no hydraulic system, and servo motors are used to actuate the brakes (like the electric parking brake).

Throttle is fly by wire control.

I use the auto hold most times when sitting at a light.

Perhaps it is different in the Powerboost then. how much actual brake vs how much brake regen is used is controlled by the truck, not by the pedal (at least how I understand it).
