Best shocks for comfortable luxury feel?

For my 2017 F150 I threw two 70 lb sandbags in the box behind the wheel wells and it helped, I transferred the sandbags to my 2021. Both F150's came with the 18" wheels. Have noticed that when I added an extra spare tire the ride improved somewhat more. Driving with no weight in the box results in a jittery ride, in my experience adding a little weight smooths things out somewhat.

I bought some workbenchs for my garage and they weighed ~300lbs total and while I was driving them home, I was thinking about how nice the truck felt overall with that weight in the back! It was a nice discovery for sure.

I've wondered about this - does the Powerboost ride better because of the extra 500(ish)lbs of hybrid system & battery sitting between the frame rails?

I’m planning on installing Fox 2.0 system. I’ve heard the ride is a bit firmer but gets better after break in.

Im torn between the Bilstein 5160 reservoir shocks, Fox 2.0, but I'm also curious about the Fox shocks off a Raptor?? There is a market for Raptor-swapped F150's, I'm just not too familiar with what works and what doesn't. I def want a "smoother" softer ride

The suspension is a spring & damper system. As mentioned above the tire (at rated pressure) is a spring as a part of that system. Thus if you reduce the spring effect of the tire, without increasing the spring effect of the Spring itself, you'll have a system that handles the ride less well. A tire that has less spring effect because of a reduced cross section causes this.

Shocks dampen the springs and are not the place to start to smooth out the ride. When I have replaced the factory shocks it was to be able to have the best handling with a 4,000 lb load in the bed where porpoising can take place.

I use Rancho XL adjustable shocks as I need a lot more shock absorbtion at the rear wheels than at the front wheels in most situations. I set the front to the point where the hood does not go down with hard braking and adjust the rear shocks based on the load in the bed. With the bed empty I use a setting that is half what I use when there is a heavy load in it. I can only do that tuning with adjustable shocks. Pickups are very different in that respect than an SUV or sedan where the weight is more evenly distributed over all the wheels.

Trade it in for a RAM truck. There's not a lot you can really do with the rear end on an F-150 to make it less "truck like".
