I'm ordering a 2024 Single cab XL short bed..with a nod to the 2004 original "Lighting" as my influence for the build. This will be my first time actually modifying a new truck and since I want to avoid Ford factory addons for a more truly Custom look so I thought to ask your options for aftermarket common day one mods..
First wheel well liner's. I know I will absolutely need them for both front and rear both for protection and for looks. Husky seems to be popular but I can't find a close up picture especially for the front. My Google Fu is BAD on this one lolo! But is there another manufacturer I should look at? Especially for a true 'Sport Truck' look? Most are made for 4 wheel drive and I just can't find much. Same thing with mud flaps! I don't mind stepping up for quality as it's cheeper to buy the right thing once. And I want to make sure everything I add will work together for the look I want to end up with. I plan a small drop 4"-2" and nothing really radical as far as tires and wheels. Carbonized Grey is the color and I'm seriously thinking carbon fiber for small touches might work too. As I look at other single cab build's here I'm really impressed by how well many small things really add up! I just watched a video of a dealership build on a 2023 XL with side exhaust MELTING some addon trim in front of the rear wheel..
I'm trying hard not to make a mistake and buy the wrong thing that might not work with a drop or the look I'm going for. This build is my first and frankly I really don't know what options are out there. I can't remember seeing a 1998-2004 Lighting in the flesh or in fact many Sport Trucks period.
Thanks!
