I had 2 ALXs fail due to a manufacturing issue. They then had a production hold and replaced it with the Bak MX4.

I like the Endure and the knob assembly. Just needed it sooner.

I'm seeing great things about the MX4 - recently picked up my truck and I'm doing some research - Might there be a reason to wait a little longer towards Black Friday perhaps? Not sure were your team is based, I'm in South Florida... so would need shipped.

Yup ive had 2 of them, older one is still going strong on my '18 in this STX sun. The new Realtruck version on my '24 has been great as well but only had it about a year and I garage my truck so that helps. Never noticed any leaks or issues and when paired with a tailgate seal it does the job of keeping most dirt and crap out

What was the manufacturing issue that they had if you don't mind me asking? If you had the chance to switch back to the Endure without any cost, would you do it?

The rear latch assembly has a plastic cover that runs the full length to hide the cable and hold the knob assembly. The cover kept falling off and hanging down. I sent Extang a pic and said there was no fix and replaced the cover. The second one, out of the box, had the exact same issue. At that point their engineeers wanted to figure out why because apparently I wasn't the only one. They asked me if I wanted the BAK MX4 since it was readily available. I agreed and they sent me one.

I miss the knob assembly, and the Extang cover was a little longer in length and leaked less at the front of the bed. If I had the opportunity and - assuming they have resolved the issue - I'd go with the Extang again.
