No gaps.

Do you have the 5.5' or 6.5' bed? Mine's 6.5'. - It may be variance in the length of the cover for the specific bed (or) it may be placement. However, you should be able to position the cover to eliminate any visible gaps.

I also used self-adhesive weather stripping to close the gaps in the PAT. - The truck was sitting on the top (open) deck of a parking garage in Atlanta when the hurricane came through. I had minimal water in the bed afterward.

I also have the 6.5' bed. Do you mind posting the weather stripping that you used. Also, does your installation look similar to mine, as in where it sits on the front?

I think you can slide yours back 1/4" or so. As long as the seal was placed on the very edge of the front of the bed you shouldn't have a leak issue up there. For context, here are some pics of how I have mine set. No leaks at the front of the bed. I do get a little bit of water around the tailgate when I go through the car wash but it's not bad.

I used this kit from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085896S8R

I put the weather stripping on both outer edges of the tailgate, the exterior of the left side of the PAT "door", and both the inside & outside of the right side of the PAT "door".

Does water get in? If not, what modifications did you make if any? I ask because I had mine installed yesterday and I've noticed a gap at the corners of the tailgate (pictures attached).

Does your cover sit similarly as mine? I asked the installer if they could move it back about 1/2 inch but he said it would leak from the front. But given how it looks on the front it might be possible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I returned mine for that reason. Previous one I had on my last truck was heavier and felt more sturdy. Order one for my new truck and was able to tuck it under one arm and climb in the truck. Its a lot lighter and seemed like it didn’t fit good.

Solid cover best in the market imo, U can adjust the cover backwards into the tailgate just need to get it right to where it doesnt interfere with the auto tailgate and send it back down. The openings will always be there but ive noticed water just follows the tailgate down and water leaks straight out and not into the bed....u can see my cover goes into the bedclamp holes a bit as urs are a few millimeters away. Think u have room for adjustment there

You definitely want to slide it back as far as you can and still be able to close it with the tailgate closed. I too think it can come back a bit.

Definitely a big difference between the original MX4 and the "real truck" version. I've had my cover on for 10 months now and it's already falling apart. Leaks like a sieve. When I went to do a warranty claim they just threw a bunch of money at me. So I started gluing the rubber back down. It was either on here or Facebook where there are members that had the older version that had the better build quality. It functions well and it looks good but other than that it ain't worth no 1,200 bucks. ... And lucky for me I was refunded almost half my money so...

Part of the problem is the now use of the Undercover style clamps to tighten it down.

If you can find an Extang Endure ALX, that one is put together well.

I just finished installing my bedrug the other day. It hasn't rained here in a while. last time it rained, I got water in the bed. I have the BAKFlip MX4. I'm surprised so much water got in over the wheel wells. See images below. I put some foam tape at the front where i found gaps, and some at the rear. I'll see how that does.

I'm about go out and wash the truck. I'll report back how it does.

After the wash, i didn't find any wetness on the bedrug. I had made a quarter-inch adjustment to the BAKFlip MX4 so that it lapped over the tailgate more.

I wash all my cars with a foam cannon on my 1700psi power washer. I foamed up the tonneau cover with the cannon and scrubbed it with my carwash brush. Then i rinse with the power washer. I don't really aim the power washer at the seals. More of a top-down angle, similar to how rain would fall. I didn't get any moisture intrusion into the bed at all. You can see in the last picture below that I put a piece of foam tape on the plastic rail cover, and then another just below down to the rubber stop. I think the water will drain down the tape, to the rubber stop, and then just down the jamb of the tailgate. I'll keep monitoring it to see if i get moisture on the bed rug. If i do, i'll buy some tailgate seals i've seen others buy on Amazon.

I'll be in the market for a new flip cover in a few months when I get my new truck. I currently have the Undercover Flex on my 2018 Platinum. I like it a lot other than the fact that it has faded in the AZ sun.

Doesn't look like Undercover makes the Flex anymore, only the Armor. Also looks like the quality of the Backfip MX4 has taken a dive. Any other flip cover I should be looking at?

Undercover still makes the Ultra Flex (Carpet on the inside finish) and the Armor Flex (Line-X on the outside). Both are good covers. I've got a Gen 3 Bak MX4 currently installed and so far so good. If you want to go away from BAK or Undercover then take a hard look at the Leer HF650M which is put together nicely and uses a different seal design instead of drain tubes.

The RealTruck UnderCover Flex Hard Folding Tonneau Cover is still alive and kicking! The RealTruck UnderCover ArmorFlex Hard Folding Tonneau Cover is an enhanced model with Multi-Shield™ protection on the panels that is virtually scratch and dent resistant. Both covers hold up exceptionally well in the direct sun.

BAK Industries has taken a serious look at the MX4 design and recently released the RealTruck BAKFlip MX4 (GEN 3) Hard Folding Tonneau Cover. The new gen is stronger than the original through redesigned rails, and the improved seals and all-new clamps produce a noticeable difference in weather resistance.

Congrats on the new truck! When it comes in, feel free to reach out to me directly about any of these covers. We can go over your options and pick out the one that will work best for your setup.

I've been doing research on tonneau covers and it seems like you've had and tested quite a few. At one point I believe you had an Extang Endure ALX. What made you move on from that one to the Bakflip MX4 Gen 3?
