First time I filled up, it showed a little over 600 and some miles. Then, of course, while towing the mileage got cut in half which I expected.. after un hitching and driving around town with pretty much the same driving style the mileage has really fluctuated but now for some reason the last time I filled up it’s now showing like 780 miles to empty and the number actually keeps going up as I drive which I’m totally OK with it’s just strange. I’ve never seen something like that before. Anyone else ever had the same thing happen?

Happens from time to time. The DTE algorithm will adjust the estimate based on the number of gallons remaining, your actual MPG since fill up and the average MPG of the previous tank.

What I get a kick out of is watching the DTE tick up after a fill up and then put like 50 or so miles on the new tank. Range will say 620 +/- and then I'll put around 40-50 miles on it averaging 25+ MPG and it will then show 650-675 DTE. Kinda like "HA! Take that 2nd law of thermal dynamics!"

Ford seems to have changed the way they did this at some point. On both my 12th gen trucks, if I did something similar to the OP, the DTE would just stay whatever value it started at until the actual calculation "caught up" to it then it would start to go down.

I have something similar happen as my usual daily trips are a lot of stop and go city driving and since I have a 5.0 I only average 16-18 mpg based on the trip mpg as I reset it ever fill up. When I take my truck on longer highway trips I’ll watch the MTE stay the same or slightly go up even after 30-45 miles of driving.

Yeah, that’s so weird. I guess that’s just how their computer systems work. Then again 16 to 18 mpg for an eight cylinder city driving ain’t too bad! Love my 5.0! Was hard to find because they are really pushing the 6 cyl turbo… I don’t like the turbo… Just a classic eight cylinder is awesome. ??

I have a 24 Tremor 3.5 , 36 Ga. tank Comes on at 54 miles to empty and when full it shows 660 ! Who knows?
Yeah, it’s so weird. How do you like your tremor? Do you ride it through muddy fields and put it through its paces?

Yea I love it ! I bought it a little over a year ago just turned 7000 miles on it. I'm retired and mostly use it to go hunting. Here in Florida, got 2000 AC that I hunt on, It's all Swamp. Had to change to M/T tires to get through things here. I got the 402A package it's a Beast. My last 3 trucks were 16,18 and20 FX4s they all worked Great. I put about 60000 on them ,then there Hand me downs to my sons.

You’ve got lucky sons! I never got any hand me down trucks or vehicles for that matter… just worked for years and saved up to get my own. You said it’s a 3.5? Is it the turbo V6?

Yes , with the Turbo's . I love the Turbo's in the trucks. I drove the V-8 but it didn't have the power the V-6 did. I don't care about sound of a V-8. My six sounds just fine. Post a Pic. of your truck. What part of the state you in ? Yes I have been lucky in my Life ! Bought a few Crypto's !! If you know what I mean !!

Interesting yeah I’ve heard mixed results of the turbo as far as reliability goes so I got the 8. Coming from a 4cyl civic was radically different experience! ?
