some context, 2023 rattler (18" wheels, 31" tires), 37k miles. Was towing my trailer with a jacuzzi on it to my customer's new house. Desert/rock terrain, rock sliced the sidewall. Now, I get it, they are c rated tires with zero sidewall lugs. The onroad performance of these has been amazing IMHO. (coming from someone who has only run e rated tires on everything from titans, 4runners, superduties)

Would you guys go back to that same size/load range or get back to E rated rubber and never have this concern again. Do these trucks on stock shocks ride plush with e rated or will that be a huge difference? I've never been in this spot before as everything i have ever driven always has bilstein 5100's as a minimum. kings/fox ideally.

I do see the recon grapplers are available in the 295/70-18 SL flavor too

Seems you already have good knowledge/experience. There are a lot of things to consider, so setting your priorities should make your decision easier. (Note: I just lurk here on Gen14 - I have a '16 Screw 4x.) The stock Wrangler's on my truck served me much better than expected, including more than 500 miles offroad in the southwest. Replaced them in Feb. '22 at 67k! Bear in mind that I drive like I'm no hurry to get anywhere, particularly offroad, and not towing or carrying much load. I selected Firestone Destination AT/2 as a replacement. Jury is still out on those.

Anyhow - as to shocks - if they're similar to the earlier F150 models, they're comfy/cushy at the expense of control. Have you experienced any side-step, front or rear, going over bumps in a corner? Bilstein 5100's fixes most of that without losing the comfy ride. Not sure they would handle the weight of E series as well though.

If you are regularly carrying loads, pulling a heavy trailer or spending more than 15% of your time offroad at speed, then go for E's.

thanks for the response, i've been overly OCD with tire purchases on previous vehicles due to our focus on go fast camping desert trips. but this truck is a glorified minivan. (the wife drives the real minivan on 34's and king shocks aka 4runner lul)

yea i have experienced the back end jumping sideways over expansion joints. otherwise, its been better than i expected from an OEM shock. The rebound is actually fantastic compared to OEM toyota tokico shocks. BUT....5100's are awfully tempting especially with the feed back i see on here along with your comment plus the ability to level the front end a bit.
I think i'll run these c rated tires until they wear out and then find a D rated tire. try to split the difference from cushy and too stiff.

The truck does occasionally pull 2 dump trailers, but i have my f350 gasser work truck for 99% of towing work.

Completely out in left field but

I put F-rated 35s and King suspension comprising a 6 inch lift and it really doesn't ride that bad. It is harsher, but had I never rode in it prior to the lift install I could be convinced it's the same as stock. Only when you hit serious (should have been fixed by now) bumps on the highway is it obvious; otherwise riding down the highway its really no different.

Kings are plush. cant beat their out of the box ride quality for the street. we've abused ours up and down baja and the wife dailies it to work lol. i had the first rebuild done on them last month (purchased them in 2020)
