I'm In my trailer tonight and the truck's approach lights keep turning on every 2 minutes for about 20 seconds. Went out, checked the doors. Started it up to see if there were any warnings. Nothing. Key fob is far away. Alarm not on. Has never done this before.

Does that indicate some sort of warning alarm?

Hello, John! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this approach light concern on your F-150. Thanks!

It may receive signal from your key. These model catch signal from far away. Do a test to see if caused by the key like taking it far away or store it in a metal box. Had this issue a home and i had to bring the key at the side of the house

Your just at the edge of the detection range for the truck when in the trailer. You can try moving the truck further away if not connected to the hitch, move the key to the far end of the trailer, or get one of these and put the keyfob in it. I have a set of these and they work! I an stand right next to the truck with the fob in the pouch and pull on the handle, nothing.. It completely blocks the signal.

It's a faraday pouch for key fobs and completely blocks the signal preventing this sort of thing from happening. It also prevents car thieves with high end key scanner equipment from being able to detect the radio signal from the fob, thus duplicating it and then steal the truck from your driveway.

You can also try turning off the welcome lighting.

The thing is it hasn't done this in the 4 months I've had it.

The trailer is unhitched. I've been in the same spot for 4 months (workamping) and it's never done this.

Mine seems to consistently activate at around 5-6' from the truck, but occasionally the lights kick on from twice that range or further. Fist time it did it I just barely stepped out of the door some 20' away and the truck lit up. 20 minutes later it didn't light up till I was almost at the truck...

Anything in the immediate area changed like neighbors or anything? Could be something is causing the signal from the fob to bounce and reach the truck triggering the welcome lights where before it wasn't. Also possible an OTA update hit if you have that enabled and is the cause.

Good idea for the light itself, but the key will keep waking up the modules and could cause batt drain over time..

Morning Folks! I realize this thread is a couple years old, but is there a solution for this? I've gone through 2 dead batteries in 6 months...not to mention my kids being late/missing school because the truck won't start. First occurrence was in August (?) and then started again last week of and on with the battery fully draining overnight last night.

Model: 2021 F150 King Ranch
SW Version: Not sure, truck currently dead, can't access settings, not listed in the app. Automatic updates are enabled.
Symptoms: Approach lights randomly come on and stay on. Then randomly go off on their own or when battery is drained. Key fob is inside house, 30ft+ away.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Put key fob into a faraday bag - no change
- Turn off "Welcome Lights" - no change
- Open and firmly closed all doors and tailgate - no change
- Double-clicked lock on key fob with horn honk confirmation - no change
- Called dealer, possibly a faulty bed switch, replaced - no change
Current Status: Battery is drained. Truck won't start, warning lights flash, speakers pops, turn signals and brake lights flash.
