Just installed it a month or so ago so no real time with it. I've been thru several auto washes and one deluge mother nature provided and I didn't see any leaks into the bed. Super easy to install and it seems to be very robust. Would definitely buy it again. How long you had it, does it leak water?
Are you happy with it ? What don’t you like about it? Would you buy it again?
Is it holding up well and meet expectations of quality build?
Nice Truck and thanks for the input. It sounds like a quality build. Will be deciding this week and order.Just installed it a month or so ago so no real time with it. I didn't have to adjust anything, if I did, it's so simple to do. Install literally took me about 15 mins.Looks like a nice cover but it also looks like the install is more involved. Latches have to be moved and adjusted; striker bars have to be moved and adjusted. None of that was necessary on the Leer or frankly any of the Realtruck covers.
The AL4 does all that except it's made in such a way that no drains are needed.I was debating this VS the Leer HF650
I went with the Leer for a few reasons:
1. The latch system seemed better than the dangly wire. I have had the dangly wire before and over time it stretched and didn't work so well. If I was packing the bed full, the wire got caught in a few things.
2. There is no cutting or modifying of drain holes for the Leer. Not sure if there is the same thing in the AL4. (I am receiving the Leer tomorrow)
3. When folded up towards the cabin it doesn't touch the paint and the rods are secured to the panel and not the truck rail. I have had issues before with the rods on the rails getting in the way.
4. When folded up towards the cabin the cover doesn't touch the cabin at all. My current Bakflip on my 2013 F150 has rubbed away some of the paint.
5. When folded up towards the cabin the Leer supposedly still allows for viewing of the 3rd brake light and also in theory of a bed camera if you have one.
Yes it was a close decision for me.The AL4 does all that except it's made in such a way that no drains are needed.
It does have the cables for releasing the latches.
Yes, it does block the 3rd brk light if I open all of the panels. This thing locks at every fold so you only have to open it at what ever load point one has. If it's all the way open due to large cargo, you're not going to be able to see the brk light over that load anyway, depending of course on load height.Yes it was a close decision for me.
I thought the cover blocked the 3rd brake light?
Ultimately it was that and the cables that pushed me to the Leer.
What I don't like about the Leer is the rubber that covers the rails. Over time with repeated openings it will show wear.
The AL4 doesn't have that exposed rubber... Theirs is underneath the panels. It'll still wear down you just won't see it as much.
