My OE Michelin 275/65-18 Primacy XCs are worn out at about 42,000 miles. Anyone replace these with Continental Terrain Contact A/Ts on a SuperCrew 4x4? How's the ride, handling and fuel economy?

These are near the top of my list, but only if they do not drop mpg

Yes, this is the first truck that I've actually been vigilant on purchasing a replacement tire that doesn't kill my MPG. Previously I would just go buy a good looking three peak rated tire that would fit my budget and be on my way. Frustratingly I can't find any reviews on tires that mention MPG, most are on all of the other aspects, traction in different scenarios which is good but I want MPG stats as well. I like the Michelin defenders, there's 2 versions. They get excellent reviews, but not very aggressive.

I have good luck with the Defenders as well.

It is funny reading tire reviews. One person will say the tire sucks in the snow and another will say it is great. The only source I have found that does quasi objective testing in Tire Rack, not the consumer reviews, but the testing they do.

Take a peek at the Defender LTX M/S 2. It's a new offering from Michelin!

I am curious about snow performance. I too run 18 inch wheels. I have read conflicting reviews.

I'm running Continental TerrainContact A/T tires on my truck in a 275/60R20 size. They are easily my favorite tire after running the following competitors: Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza, Nitto Terra Grappler G2, Falken Wild Peak A/T3W, Hankook Dynapro AT2, and Toyo Open Country A/TIII

The TerrainContact A/T tires have tons of grip in wet weather and they provide a smooth quiet ride. I run Blizzak DM-V2 snow tires in the winter, so I can't comment on how well the Continentals handle snow and ice, but they have good enough ratings in Tire Rack's winter testing that I wouldn't be concerned about running them in snow.

I’m also running the terrain contact a/t in 265/70/18. I have to imagine they are going to be one of the better all terrain options as far as fuel economy goes due to their not very aggressive tread. Regardless, great tire with great grip. Not sure about the snow traction but are great in dry and wet.

I am running them on my stock 18s. How can I help?
What were your OE tires and did you see a drop in fuel economy when you installed them? How does the ride and noise compare to the OE tires? Thanks!

My PB came with the 18" wheels...and had the Goodyear Wranglers. I am not a Goodyear fan and replaced them as they had horrible wet/dry traction and were horrible for towing (IMO)

I bought the E rated TerrainContact after checking ratings on TireRack. I wanted good all around traction, good towing characteristics and decent noise levels.

The tire has definitely delivered. It is a little noisier, but I suspect that is due to the towing and the weight on the back tires...just time to rotate them.

MPG has not dropped from what I can tell. My PB MPG is somewhat all over the map and unpredictable with mixed neighborhood and 80MPH toll/highway around Austin. I still get 24 MPG when my electric is having a good day. Attaching a pic of 26MPG while cruising around Big Bend for a few days.

The ride is harsher, but that is b/c I run the tires at a higher PSI than the old Wranglers. This after suggestions on this forum.

Overall I am happy with them.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Cooper Discoverer Road+ Trail, 3 peak rated. Had them put on this week and super happy with them so far. Weight isn’t much off from stock so not really affecting mpg.

How is the handling of those coopers? I have read testing reports that other coopers models do not as well.

So far no complaints, the hankook dynapros that came stock I think literally anything is better…
