I'd like to upgrade, but can't stomach that crazy price tag for them. Are they plug and play or do they require Forscan?

That will depend on what you have now, and what the mirrors will come with and year. Manual to power takes wire harness and forscan, switches etc. power to power should be pretty straight forward. Most likely will take some wiring for power extend.

With camera? It should be an easy swap. It’s just the price. I went manual to power it was a job but it’s nice. Boost Auto sells aftermarket mirrors a better price range. I wanted OEM so I paid the price.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I absolutely hate the way my non tow mirrors have that 45 degree cutoff on the bottom inside corners. With the mirrors PROPERLY adjusted to minimize blind spots (the sides of the truck not visible in either mirror), I can not see my rear wheels when backing up into a parking spot, making it difficult to park between the lines since I can not really see them in the mirrors. Also, when making a tight turn in a parking lot, I can’t see the rear tire to avoid rubbing my rear tire on the damn curb.

Yeah, I could adjust the mirrors before backing up or maneuvering in a tight parking lot, but what a PITA to keep constantly adjusting them for the different situations. So much easier to adjust once and be able to see everything with the tow mirrors.

I really liked the non tow mirrors on my 2019. I could easily see the rear wheels with the mirrors properly adjusted. I would just need to move my head close to the window on the driver’s side, or lean towards the passenger side to see the wheels. With my current mirrors, that does no good, I still can’t see the wheels because of that stupid cutoff. If I keep this truck at the end of my lease, I will be buying the Boost Auto tow mirrors for sure.

Agree with all that say it's anywhere from tough to impossible to drive and navigate without towing mirrors. We bought a nicely-optioned CPO 2022 XL for an employee promotion that of course had the standard mirrors. I drove the truck for a few weeks to sort it out before we turned it over, and there was no way I could deal with the mirrors.

As much as our Dealer hates it, the ability to buy things at Ford online and pay for the installation is a great deal. And so the towing mirrors appeared on the truck, though sadly the XL has no power fold. Bummer for some parking but oh well. So while they're awesome, in my opinion the mirrors are wider than they need to be.

One of the great things about a Forum is the ability to share issues and solutions, where many times the great tinkerers dissect things to fix 'em. In our XL's perfect world, the mirrors would push in the additional +/- 2" of the arm length still exposed when they're all the way in. Maybe this is overly anal, but I've been thinking of buying a (hopefully damaged for cheap) OE towing mirror on eBay to take apart and see if it can be cut down.

I realize that the mirrors wouldn't then extend to the width intended, but that's OK for this truck that will rarely tow, tow nothing huge, and can't deal with the standard mirrors.

Am I nuts here?
