I'm in the same boat as well. Ordered a 2023 Rattler in mid-July with the 5.0 (thought it would pair well with the dual exhaust) and was told yesterday that I had to get the 3.5. Currently have the 2.7 in my 19' XLT Sport and enjoy it but it just doesn't sound as appealing to have the EcoBoost with the Rattlers set up. Also, I was a little disappointed with the real-world pictures of the truck. The rake looks really bad and the tires definitely aren't as meaty as the other photos. Huge bummer for sure!

I ended up getting the 3.5 in silver. I had a 2019 w/2.7 Ecoboost and I was really impressed with it. The real-world photos actually make me fell a little better as the stock photos make it look like a lowered truck. As for the rake, I can deal with it. It looks very similar to the rake that the Tremor has from the factory. Really not a big deal, as I will end up adding 1.5-2 inches of lift anyways.

On a side note, they dropped the 2.7 Ecoboost as well? I was kind of surprised they were going to add it, as I would assume it would need a special exhaust system for one trim of truck. The 5.0 made sense, as it was on the Tremor.

So strange considering today's article stating it's available with the Coyote and even the Powerboost.

Thanks for sharing this article. I may change the color on my build after seeing the Avalanche in pictures.

A broker I am dealing with called the General Manager of the Ford dealer he works with on Friday. The GM said my 5.0 build is possible but I’m not buying it. I think this Rattler with 3.5 Ecoboost only thing is too fresh for dealers to know.

i understand, I’m going to level and put 35s on mine. Avalanche I think makes it look worse cause the transition from the plastic xl bumper to the paint is so drastic. I think it makes it more noticeable that it’s built on the xl. I went with antimatter blue.

I got told by my dealer on Friday, and have the build sheet with the 5.0 listed from earlier this month. I had to change to the 3.5,my dealer stated that ford stated constraints were the issue. If I had to guess since tremor is. 5.0 only no 5.0 rattlers will be built.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade the halogen lights to LEDs like you could on the 2022 XLT? I know the options are super limited on the XL models. I swear I saw somewhere that you couldn’t and I wasn’t at the dealership when he put the order in. The only thing he told me was that he upgraded to carpet over the rubber mats. I hope they release the 2023 models on the website soon so you can actually build one and have an idea of what it would look like in other colors.

To my knowledge, no. I believe you have to get up to the XLT to even get the “entry level” LEDs. There are some aftermarket options to add OEM LEDs with a wiring harness.

I’m just going to swap mine out with aftermarket leds…. I’m slowly buying all my mods so when it arrives I’ll have plenty to do.

Definitely going to have swap the headlights out and level it for sure. I think those two things will help out a ton. I was interested in the Rattler because I don't really need the fancy interior like my 19' XLT has and wanted the more aggressive exterior offroad look that we saw in the release photos but the 5.0 delete and the first real-world pictures definitely made me a bit nervous to stick with it. I ordered mine in avalanche too. Maybe my expectations were just a little too high. With a few mods, I defintely think we can make them look pretty solid. You should post a link to the headlights you decide to buy. I would be interested to check those out!

im going with stage 3 motor sports forall my led bulbs.

https://www.stage3motorsports.com/2021-f150-led-bulbs.html

then I’m going to do tint, retrax bed cover, bed mat, level,35s eventually, and a stubby antenna. Few other small things…

im replacing my 2018 f150 xlt that was leveled on 35s raptor take offs. i purchased a ranger lariat tremor, but it was far too small and the back seat sat terrible….

I think that the rattler will be a good package for the price, and even moved up to the xlt trim by ford after people start getting them, and the demand goes up.

We are in a society now where ALL corporate giants dictate what we can own and when we can get it. Not just FORD but ALL MAJOR CORPORATIONS, I used to work for a major telecommunications company, maybe at&t, and its rediculous the constraints they put on their employees and saddest of all the customers. Anways.....hopefully you end up with the truck you want soon. GOOD LUCK my friend never give up!
