After a recent OTA, went to the truck to see what is new and got "Charging System Service Soon" on the dash. Did not of course expect this but I feel like my battery got drained by this update. Anybody else see this before and what is the potential fix? Dropping the truck off tonight for them to check it out tomorrow. Hopefully they don't just clear the code and actually fix it

Charge the batt and see if it comes back. Update could do it.

I had this same message pop up. I took the truck to a dealer as it is still under warranty. They found that a wiring harness was chaffed under the alternator. They said that they cleaned and re-wrapped the harness. No more issue.

Thanks for replying with this info. They are looking into it as we speak, we'll see what the update is. I will post on here once I get my truck back

Well, If my experience is any guide... you'll get a few more of these warnings with no real problem found... My bet is you've got one of those batteries that sat around for months... If so, go get a new battery.

Honestly, I have looking at just replacing the crappy battery Ford puts in, just doing a bit more research before I pull the trigger on best of the best for the Powerboost

Shortly after delivery (eg 3 months) I got those warnings while on the road and at speed. It was Thanksgiving week with family dinners at the end of travels... So after several of these I just pulled into a NAPA dealer and bought a replacement AGM battery. Put it in and not a sqwauk since. Kept the battery and had it tested at my dealer: Nothing wrong showed up... I go back to the no problems since getting the new one. What I can say is that lead acid batteries (AGM or flooded cell) don't like "just sitting around for months." Funny things go on inside like impurities plating out on the active material. This effectively reduces capacity by reducing surface area. There are probably some other funny stuffs going on from "just sitting around." Forgive me for problem solving from afar... I've just seen many, many complaints on here like yours. They all seem to be fixed with a new (& mostly not Ford) Batteries.

That's definitely good to know. Seems like I've been getting weird issues here and there and I feel like a new battery will take care of that. Thanks for your input

I'm on day 529 of the factory battery.

If I wasn't diligent about keeping it alive (above 12.2V), it'd have let me down several months ago.
And if I wasn't diligent about keeping up with this forum, I would be someone experiencing the CrAzY things these trucks do when the 12V battery is weak. And I'd probably be getting the same results from a dealership as others have.

At this point I have enough invested (effort and chargers and monitoring tools) in keeping it above the low water mark that I stubbornly am aiming to keep it alive for as long as possible.

Note, if I drove the truck daily, my commute is long enough to keep the battery at around 78-83% SOC. But I don't drive it daily, so I have to "maintain" it like it's a 1980's Porsche 911. ??

My take on OEM Batteries is that if you got one that sat around for months, you'll see those problems. If you were lucky enough to get an OEM battery that did not sit around, you'll have no problem. Keep in mind that the electrochemistry will prodce the rated voltage regadless of whatever funny stuff went on inside the battery. For example, plating out of impurities on active material won't reduce terminal voltage, it'll only reduce capacity... It is possible to drive impurities back off plates by what is called an equalizer charge. These are done periodically on Submarine Batteries. However, in automitive usage these are not done usually. In my case, I take out the main battery, clean it up, if a flooded cell type top up cells with pure water, and put it on an overnight, low rate charge each fall. I've had flooded cell batteries last as much as 8 years this way. Still learning about these AGM types.

Revising this old thread. I got this message on my 1 month old 2023 Lariat PowerBoost. Took it into the dealer and they said the battery was not up to spec so they replaced it. No big deal so hopefully the last of it;

As to holding the dealer's feet to the fire... Got it. Still, if you experience more warnings... You should consider just splitting for a Non-Ford battery. Because I was on the road for Thanksgiving family dinners and such 2 1/2 years ago I just pulled in to a NAPA place and got their off the shelf, catalog battery. Dropped it in and not a peep since... You might consider also giving the battery a "wetting down charge." This is a low rate long time charge right after installing it. In my case when I did that, it went some 10 hours until the charger said "done." BTW you need a charger with an AGM setting.

I just brought my '23 Lariat Powerboost in to dealer yesterday for same Charging System warning. Truck is now 9 months in my hands and in Feb and March was getting Deep sleep messages but I just tried giving the battery a good full charge and that seems to be minimized.
Dealer called by late afternoon and said the problem was a faulty Auxilary battery. I learned something new as I wasn't aware of that item under the back seat. They are swapping in a new Aux battery today. Really hope this fixes both messages.
