We drive 4 hours round trip to go skiing every weekend. CarPlay drops at the same golf course both coming and going. Rock solid everywhere else.
At least yours reconnects. Mine says "Lost connection to phone" and then never reconnects at all. Has happened a few times and I just got my Truck last Friday.
I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S21+, drove 900 miles round trip in the last 3 days and Sync4 just drops/disconnect out of the blue. As @n8dgr8 said - I swear it happens in specific locations, as in something in a specific area causes it to drop connection.
It reconnects back within a few seconds....except when it doesn't, which is extremely frustrating. We had a 2 hour stop on the way back yesterday and finally after that 2 hour stop Sync4 "agreed" to reconnect back to my phone through Android Auto (the issue is not with Bluetooth, only with Android Auto, which is another idiotic thing - why does it have to be either/or, and if it does, why do you need BT to use Android Auto....totally idiotic).
BTW - it wouldn't even reconnect with the USB cable, never mind wireless Android Auto., All it did was constant connecting/disconnecting power to the USB port.

The most annoying thing is the music that stops playing but the navigation (Waze). Really frustrating when you're cruising at 75 mph on a highway and all of a sudden it goes blank on you.

BTW - another phenomenon that I experience with Waze over Android Auto is that Waze simply stops navigation a few minutes after I start a trip, just cancels the route out of the blue. Anyone else?

I have found this happens if there is another Blue Tooth device in the vehicle. Normally I have no problem with Android Auto but, if I have my hearing aids with me, the connection will come and go. I don't know about another Android phone since my wife has an IPhone.

Interesting. I have my WearOS watch which is connected via BT. I wonder if that's causing it. I may take some drives without it. I have found that to fix it when it goes out I have to turn off and then turn back on BT and it picks up AA again.

I get the opposite issue where I can't get off AA lol. Gets stuck at the maps screen. Only way so far Ive found is to change the XM station and as it flashes the station at the top, tap it and it will switch.

So haven't found a newer thread about this. I have been having random Android Auto disconnects and I have done some extensive testing here.

In short I had a 2 hour drive today and 2 hour drive back. When i started I had Bluetooth on and the phone plugged into USB. About 1hr 10min into drive it disconnected. I tried to unplug the USB and plug back in and it reconnected for about 5 minutes then next time unplugging USB and plugging back in did not work. I rebooted the phone and it connected for about another 7 minutes. Pulled over turned off truck for about 30 seconds and back on, connected for another 20 minutes and disconnected. Tried unplugging the USB cable multiple times and nothing. Rebooted phone, turned off bluetooth, plugged in USB and it worked for about 20 minutes and then disconnected.

When I headed back home, used a new USB cable, plugged in phone and had bluetooth on. It went for about a hour with now issues and then disconnected. unplugged phone, plugged back in, connected for about 5 minutes, disconnected unplugged and plugged back in and it refused to connect. Rebooted phone, connected for about 2 minutes and it kept doing this I pulled over, filled up with gas and waited about 15 minutes, connected to the truck with USB only and it worked for the 40 minute duration of the drive.

This morning I used my inspection camera and verified that the USB port on the truck and the phone are good. Used my compressed air to blow out just to be sure, and cleared cache and storage on android auto, I have done this previously.

So this problem has been constant in the last 4 months I have owned this 2021 F-150 tremor with the 402A equipment package. Interesting is I have a Carlinkit that uses Apple Carplay and I have done a 4 hr drive without a single hickup using that multiple times. It seems at like a hour to a hour and a half Android Auto tickles a bug. I have tried the forget and repair android auto multiple times. I am using a Pixel 6 pro, and it's updated. I have had this problem intermittently since I got this truck.

Curious if you have got this far if anyone here has any ideas to help.

Thanks

Does anyone know what module controls the bluetooth that Android Auto connects to? I am at a point that I just want to tell my dealer to replace this module. The intermittent disconnects are unbearable and I get answers like "it's AT&T thats the problem" and "your phone is too hot" and other BS that makes no sense. Not only do I understand how bluetooth works, and know that you don't even need a provider or sim card for this to work, but I also travel a ton for work and have rentals, and prefer Ford's and never have this issue with any rental but my truck is hot garbage with some days it working fine and others having dozens of disconnects.
