I know the AC going out, air flow stopping and evaporator core freezing issue is still on going but i've been reading TSB 22-2089 isnt valid anymore. Does anyone have a valid replacement? I'm going thorugh this issue right now and want to have all my ducks in a row before I head back to the service center.

I have posted the TSB for reference.

Hi there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can assist with your concern on my end.

It's puzzling why there would be an acknowledgement and solution to the issue by Ford, but it would have a time limit.

I’m following this as well, I brought my 2022 Larit in for this issue and was told the TSB was no good anymore and if they couldn’t replicate it while there then they wouldn’t do anything about it.

Out of curiosity (I’m not suggesting that it’s acceptable the trucks do this), how do you usually run your HVAC settings? I believe I have found a correlation of conditions that cause it, and as such how to avoid it until it can be fixed.

I'm almost always manual control due to wanting recirc air. I know of the work around but work arounds are not solutions.

Agreed, they aren’t - you should be able to use it how you want. I was just curious for curiosity sake and so I can help others avoid it or intentionally recreate it for the dealer.

That is the theme I see - folks with this problem are using manual control with a “Lo” temp setting and also a low fan speed, causing the ice to accumulate until it eventually blocks the airflow. I don’t typically see folks using auto having the issue.

I am also super curious to just how bad the evaporator is freezing up given it clears pretty fast.
I also attached an image of how much water comes out once it defrosts [wheel left in frame for reference]. Kinda wondering if it [evap core] just isnt able to sweat and drain properly. The borescope should tell me what we need to know once I can trigger it to happen again.

Hello all, new member here. Wanted to post my recent experience with a brand new 2023 truck having this same issue. For those who may find this in the future, here is what happened to me yesterday.

Mine is a 2023 F150 STX (so has only manual A/C controls, no auto or dual zone...) with 645miles. Afternoon commute home with ambient temps around 85deg, A/C was blowing full cold on a low fan speed. After driving approx. 40 minutes, I noticed that the A/C was no longer blowing cold and with reduced velocity coming from the air vents. Increasing fan speed caused the fan inside the dash to speed up (making a lot more fan blowing noise), but did not increase the amount of air coming out of the vents. Changing selection from dash only to dash/floor togther, or floor only did not help. Changing to Max A/C did not help. Changing from inside recirc to outside vent also did not help. This went on for the last 20 minutes of my drive (yes, my commute takes an hour). I was not familiar with this issue prior to today and so did not attempt to turn the A/C completely off to try and get it working again.

After being parked and shut down for approx. 30 minutes, I returned to crank the truck back up and the A/C was then working normally, blowing cold air at high velocity from the vents. Observed a significant amount of condensate still dripping from the firewall drain, even after sitting for 30 minutes.

This truck is less than three weeks old (since purchased), with a manufactured date of 03/23. I will be contacting my dealer today. I am very interested to know how they will handle the situation, especially if the TSB 22-2089 is deemed to not apply for the 2023 models.

There is a work around if you get warm. Turn off the A/C switch, wait about 5 minutes and it'll unfreeze and air velocity will return. You can then turn on the A/C switch again.
Let us know what the dealer tells you since your truck is literally brand new.

Update: Sent an email similar to what I described above to the service manager, copied sales manager and general manager of the local dealer where I purchased the truck. Received a prompt response by phone call from the service manager who was very helpful and wanted to get the truck back immediately to investigate and fix the issue. He did confirm that what I described was a known issue that they were familiar with. He also confirmed that the TSB 22-2089 does not apply to my VIN, but that they would be able to fix the issue under warranty nonetheless. He sent a service advisor with a loaner vehicle to pick-up the truck this afternoon.
Not exactly sure how long the turn-around will take, but I'll update again once I have more info.

I feel like it helped that I presented my observations with sufficient detail, because it seemed to help them hone in exactly on what was going on. If I can get any further details from them about the underlying cause, whether it was a bad batch of parts, sensors, etc or if this issue is something that they have seen return after being repaired once, I'll also let you know.

Excellent dealer response! @Ford Motor Company take notice.

5/11/23 Update: Got my truck back yesterday afternoon. The dealer could not replicate the problem, even after driving it 160 miles by two different people. Discussed it with the service rep and they tried a few different things to try and make the issue happen, including the same low fan speed coldest temp setting like when it happened to me. I didn't get any answers or resolution to the issue. Truck now has just over 800 miles on it.
