Sounds like you know your railroad stuff.

What are your two cents on my situation? My dealer is in the Greater Milwaukee area. Truck has been sitting in Markham Yard, IL, approximately 90 miles from the dealer, since 8/5/21. Delivery ETA showing as 8/24-8/30.
Once a train gets to the yard, it gets broken down. Cars are sorted by forwarding destination, then a regularly-scheduled 'switch' engine (just a mainline unit on switching duty, these days... there aren't many dedicated switchers any more) will take the cars for your destination (anywhere from a single car-carrier carriage to several dozen of the same, depending on the size of the yard and the traffic) to an unloading facility. I am guessing your truck is in a storage lot at an unloading facility already, and no longer in the rail yard or on a train. Railroads don't like to store cargo for a long time in the yard, since any damage while on the carriage is their responsibility... once the carriages arrive, it's in their interest to get the cargo offloaded to local facilities ASAP where it becomes someone else's problem.

Markham Yard is a fairly major Illinois Central (now Canadian National) intermodal facility, so I'm guessing they're offloading there rather than running you up on a train to Milwaukee and a smaller yard. So... I think you're likely in a large storage lot in or near Harvey, IL, waiting for a weekly/bi-weekly over-the-road run that will take your truck and several others up to your dealer (and maybe others) in your area. Now that we're off the railroad, I'm on less-sure footing, but based on what others have posted, it seems like Ford/Carriers are OK with trucks sitting in satellite yards up to a week before loading them, then they allow up to a week for the delivery (even though it doesn't always take that long) so... sounds like your truck got built into a train on or around 8/5. Probably take the train till early this week to get to Markham, a couple days at most to get to the unloading facility via switcher (i.e. right about now), then in the sattelite yard for up to a week (until the 18th or so), then off to your dealer to arrive sometime the week after?

Again, all guessing, but hey, it's all we've got right now until our dealer calls! :)

I went through all my dealer's DTP inventory to see how delivery compares to production date. Also asked them for a copy of the visibility report this morning. My productivity will go up 10 fold once I finally get this truck lol

Interesting that they have trucks that have been on the lot (or at least not removed from their website) for over 3 weeks.
I don’t see any KC Built trucks.

Man, you’re good. So, based on your guesstimate, since the truck was last updated on 8/5 as being at Markham Yard, sounds like there’s a chance it could get loaded on a truck tomorrow, but more likely early next week (best case) and get up to the dealer by end of next week, prior to the 8/24-8/30 ETA. But perhaps that’s just the optimistic side of me talking. Thanks for this!

I don’t see any KC Built trucks.
That's an interesting point. The ones I check at my dealer were KC trucks (only 5 of them). The delivery times were similar. Perhaps these truckes spend more time waiting to be loaded and unloaded, and less time actually travelling.

The trucks in my list are all DTP on purpose - that's where my truck is coming from so that's all I care about.

My dealers has KC trucks, they are just irrelevant for calculating how quickly my truck will arrive so I didn't bother including them

That makes since, since the trucking industry is taking a hit with lack of drivers.

Hey, did a bit more digging since I'm something of a railroad buff and now that trains are involved, you got my attention ;)

Since your truck is now in Argentine, I'd say it's definitely coming by rail. There's a major BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) yard there. That doesn't mean your truck is coming on a BNSF train necessarily, but the train it's coming on will be built there.

Looks like Palsapp tracked the journey your truck took (by truck carrier) from the factory to a loading lot (Wade Lot Claycomo) about a mile away. The truck was loaded onto a rail car there, and then was picked up by a local locomotive and taken a few miles down the branch line to the rail yard in Argentine. Per the Ford Perfomance guys, it's now in Argentine and could wait on the carrier car for anywhere from a few hours to a few days while its train gets built in the switching yard. From there, it's a rail journey to near your destination and the whole procedure likely reverses... the carriage your truck is on gets broken off from the train in the destination yard. It, and probably several other carriages are taken by switch engine down a branch line/siding to an unloading facility. Your truck gets unloaded from the carriage it rode on since loading in Claycomo, then it sits in a lot at the unloading facility until picked up by an over-the-road carrier for delivery to your dealer.

That's my best conjecture of 'The Story of Leadfoot21's Truck from Factory to Dealership', take it for what it's worth! :)
Know anything about South Florida train lines? LOL

I know Norfolk Southern has a new vehicle lot about 10 blocks from my office in Miami. Wonder if there is a way to figure out where my truck is between Voltz and likely that Miami yard.

Its actually an FEC yard, but i am assuming this is where the truck will land. i recently saw new f150s coming from that direction on haulers heading towards Broward County, north on I75.

Chatted with Ford Performance this AM. They said the vehicle was updated yesterday at 5pm. Last update showed passing through Hazel Crest, IL, which is where Markham Yard/Harvey, IL is. The rep said he could confirm that the vehicle has been moved from the rail car to a road convoy. Not exactly sure if that officially means it’s been loaded on an over-the-road truck to be transported up to the dealer, but it’s certainly more information than they’ve been able to give me since 8/5 when it was last updated saying the vehicle was at Markham Yard.

Well, most train yards you see aren't actually loading/unloading facilities, but routing facilities. They're like post offices for train cars... cars come in, get sorted and rearranged, then forwarded on in new combinations.

All of the real loading/unloading takes place at various facilities on sidings and branch lines, often NEAR a train yard, but not part of it. So while your truck might go through the yard near you, if it does, it will probably sit there in a railroad carriage until that carriage is taken to an offloading facility down a branch line/siding somewhere, then offloaded to a storage lot there for delivery to your dealer.

I'm starting to go stir crazy waiting for an update on my truck. I pulled info for all the Lariats and one Limited on my dealer's site. It was interesting that there was a truck built after mine that has a delivery date before mine. I also found it interesting that they all have delivery dates but so many don't have ship dates including mine in yellow. My company will be better off after this truck arrives and I can focus on my job.
