Here's a good video explaining what to look for on the 5.0 in the tsb that covered the engine block porosity oil leak. Has anyone here actually had this issue yet? It can't be very common, or is it such a small leak that most don't even know its leaking and it will start leaking worse over time?

Haven’t seen one single post from owner with the issue, so no it’s not common. My truck falls in the dates and is bone dry.

Only leak I’ve seen from anybody was a faulty rear main seal seat casting which would not allow the rear main to seat. That was an anomaly though.

Thanks for posting this, as I've been wondering where to even check for a leak. I just tried to crawl under and check but it looks like I'll need an inspection camera to even see that bolt. Though everything that I can see around that area looks dry.

Same here, I tried to get up under there but I can't really tell. Just looking from the filter area it looks dry on mine

Mine doesn't use a drop of oil.

Well s**t. Mine was built a month before the cutoff. Guess I'll be looking for this next oil change. Fingers crossed.

Mine was built in October, in that time frame from 2022. No oil thus far.

Mine is having the short block replaced under that TSB as I type this. ‘23 5.0. Mine has leaked oil since the day I bought it (3/31/24). Has 2644 miles on it. It has been in the shop more than it has been in my driveway. Really pissed at the whole situation.

I inspected mine last month after seeing this and no problems. Hasn't used or leaked any noticeable oil so far in 4,500 miles. Will keep fingers crossed.
