Daily. Call it 20k a year. Some city, mostly highway, occasional trailer but far from hard pulling.

I don't own a Powerboost. So take this with a grain of salt.

I'm one of the users trialing the Explorer Hybrid Police Utility for my service. I'm up to 120,000 km sharing it with three others. When it works, it works great. I love driving around in electric mode, I love letting it idle so all my electronics can stay powered and connected, and I love the instant torque.

When it doesn't work, however... it really doesn't work. I've had a bunch of "Stop Safely Now" messages and it has a nasty habit of going into limp mode when the hybrid battery overheats... like when you're pushing the engine. God forbid you leave the radio on and draw down the 12V battery, that causes the Christmas tree as well. The gas-only Explorers have been troublesome, but nowhere near as bad as the hybrid (I'm a diehard Ford guy, but give me a Tahoe PPV any day...)

What does this have to do with a F150 Powerboost? Well, the dealership can figure out issues on the gas Explorers without a problem. The dealership, however, has been unable to figure out why the hybrid keeps going into limp mode and why it keeps spitting out the SSN message. The issues are so transient with the hybrid that by the time they get to it, unless I keep the car on and go directly to the dealership right as the issue happens, the error has disappeared. We've given up on ever fixing it.

That is why I chose the regular aviator instead of the hybrid. Seems like that platform was even more of a toss up than the powerboost.

Probably for the best anyway……….my wife would just burn through tires faster with 630 lb ft of torque.
