401A or 402A Builds: Which would you choose?

I'm thinking about ordering a Tremor, and probably only keeping it short term. I like the idea of keeping the price closer to the 401A, but the 402A is only $2600 more, comparatively, the way that I have them specced. As far as retaining value, is it a no brainer to just go with the 402A, with all the added features it has as standard equipment?

I'm probably way over thinking this. Either way, it's a great price. Any feedback would be appreciated.

402A - no brainer. That’s what I ordered and like you said, it will hold its resale value better, especially short-term.

12” Productivity Screen in Instrument Cluster
Two-Speed Automatic AWD with Mechanical Locking 4WD (401 only 4-hi/low)
LED Projector with Dynamic bending Headlamps w/ LED Taillamps

That's a big list.

OEM LED lighting is icing on the cake.

All valid points, of which I knew. Guess I just needed the nudge. Doing a search of used, just for kicks, doesn't seem to matter whether its a 400A, or a 402A, they're all $65-75k...so I think I can feel pretty good about the $63.8k. Order will be submitted Monday, and then bring on the loooong waiting game.

By the way, are you sure these prices for 2023 Tremor? For ‘23MY, there should be an upcharge for the 3.5L ecoboost…

Yeah, through Granger Ford. They’ve got ‘23 on the form heading, and the color set as Avalanche. I’ll ask Monday what the price difference would be with a 5.0.

for me, 402a is the way to go. the 12" screen, the 360 camera, the transfer case, leather and heated steering wheel (Canadian) is a must.
being 2022 and a new gen vehicle, having regular gauges while you have a massive center stack, i thought the 12" screen would be standard on the XLT and an option to the XL.

Caught up in the moment and forgot to ask. My order was placed and guaranteed with 3.5L at "no charge", and I received confirmation from Ford minutes later, so that must be the case.

I could have bought a 2021 Tremor off the dealer lot with the 401A package. The two kickers for me were the 4A transfer case and the LED projector active headlamps. I live where it is best to have the fanciest headlights available and I loved the 4A setting on my old truck for winter driving. So my vote is to go with the 402A option, which it sounds like you did.

As to the 3.5 v. 5.0, my old truck had the 5.0 and it is a great engine. However, I live where there are some serious mountains and elevation changes, so the 3.5 is the best choice. If I lived someplace flat, I'd go for the 5.0. Fuel economy isn't much different, maybe one mpg, and you can run E85 in the 5.0 if you want.

Are you able to get the "invoice" amount? I'm about to order a 2023 Tremor, and have pretty much the same print out...but mine only has one column....the MSRP column and total. I don't have an Invoice Column. I'm being made to believe that just getting MSRP is like "a deal".
