Does anyone know how lemon laws work as an out of state purchaser? Could not find that info in either states' statutes and read a startling statistic that around 1% of cars sold end up being clinkers. And if my truck dies, do I then have to return it to Iowa on my dime?

Getting very far afield from the purpose of this thread, but in any case, most lemon law claims would be filed in the state of the consumer's residence and involve opportunities / attempts to remedy by any authorized dealer of the manufacturer with ultimate remedy falling to the manufacturer, not any particular dealer.

I don't think you'll find that either the manufacturer or your state lemon law can force any of this process to be conducted through the selling dealer specifically, only through an authorized dealer of the manufacturer.

There may be jurisdiction-specific exceptions, but IMO you're worrying about a contingency that's rare. Personally, that wouldn't be a factor in my deciding about making an out-of-state purchase, but obviously YMMV.

Lemon law is applicable based on the state you live in. Most manufacturers will purchase the truck back from you before having to pursue the lemon law if you qualify in your state. Each state's rules are different.

What was the deal with that vicious boxer you had in there the other day?

Granger is a pretty small dealer, just saying. Great service and deal, I bought from them. They aren't a big dealer though. I don't think it would've helped your chances.
Small size but not in volume right?

Correct, smaller dealership but high volume
??

how does that work then? I’d quantify a dealers “size” on volume only, what else defines a dealers size.

There's one in Peoria that converted an old Menards store. It's big. Cubic foot wise. I wouldn't want to pay the utility bill.

Yes, we had 14 orders receive VINs. Some older Platinums and newer orders that were low level Lariat or XLT orders.

@Granger Ford/Zach, how does this work? We’ve seen quite a few trucks being scheduled with similar configurations as trucks ordered much earlier than the ones who did get scheduled, some have priority codes of 10. This is of course across many dealers. Are they not scheduled on a first come first serve basis, assuming no constraints on certain parts/componnets? If not, how dies it work?

Oldest orders are prioritized first. Then it comes down to Ford on if they think they will have the parts available to build each trim. If they don't have the parts for an older platinum trim then they will look into scheduling a newer order that is a lower trim. Its mostly just Ford trying to decide if they have the parts for your build but older orders do get a higher prioritization.

I wanted to post an update and give major props to Granger. I ordered in August and picked up my truck from Granger at the end of October. I had an issue with a PCO that had my old address on it in error, therefore it couldn't be honored by Ford. Granger said best they do is appeal so I brought them a number of documents to prove residence. My expectations of it being successful were low. I checked in a couple times with Zach and he noted he had not heard anything. A couple months passed and I had honestly moved on/pretty much forgot about it. I'll be damned if I didn't get a $2500 check in the mail from Granger a few weeks ago. I can't say with any confidence any other dealer I've ever been to would have followed through and done that. Aside from that, the process was very smooth. The price was ultra competitive in today's market without any stress of negotiation and there was no BS/surprises.

Thank you to Chip, Zach and the rest of the team. 10/10 would buy from them again, and if my wife keeps dropping hints about the new Jeep Wagoneer I may be contacting their Jeep department sooner than I would like.

Picked up mine from chip and team today. Very efficient process throughout the whole experience. They are quite busy but really do care for their client when your truck arrives!
they also offer the ford ESP plans now and they seem quite reasonable as well.

driving it back to WA and had 30mph head winds the whole way! Rocking a solid 11mpg on my 2.7 :p
