Funny how the tuned powerboost swaps HP/TQ. Runs out of turbo at 5500 RPM though.

yeah I really wish someone would come out with a hybrid turbo. Keep tq similar but let her breath up top.

Looking at a 2020 Le mans Ford GT 3.5EB engine stats should be enough for anyone to understand the capabilities of a Ford 3.5 EB engine.

660 hp

Powertrain. The car is powered by a 3,496 cc (3.5 L; 213.3 cu in) twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 engine rated at 647 hp (482 kW; 656 PS) and 550 lb⋅ft (746 N⋅m) of torque. For the 2020 model year and beyond, this power output rating was increased to 660 hp (492 kW; 669 PS).

Different crankshaft, rods, pistons, and turbos. This comparison is the same as comparing the stock 5.0 to the 800 HP 5.2L in the Mustang GTD. Same lineage, different engines.

Yeah, the top-end of the 3.5s kinda sucks in a 'what's possible' realm, but ford focuses on the power band which really has no equal. I've seen better results short-shifting vs winding out the RPM. It's hard to compare aftermarket dyno sheets due to the fact that when dyno'd, the vehicle is already at ~2k RPM with the wheels rolling in a steady state with ~30hp worth of air flowing resulting in an unloaded turbos. An engine dyno provides notably different results in the low RPMs as seen here due to the amount of gas flowing through the turbine. 'Idling' at 2k RPM and then mashing the throttle results in numbers being skewed due to the limiting factor being turbos spooling up. This can be seen in almost all of the turbo'd motors showing the same torque power ramp which is really just idle turbos coming online. The spike/dips of the wheel dyno looks like some type of flutter is going on, either BOV or WG related.

Engine Dyno

v Wheel Dyno (if comparing between engine dyno, add ~18% due to drivetrain losses)
Ford F-150 3.5L EB vs. Supercharged V8 1707766141417

Here's the HP curve from the engine dyno as I'd know someone would want to see it.

It's clear where the turbo spool time creates an artificially steep curve in the wheel dyno, whereas engine dyno turbo comes up to speed ~800 RPM sooner.

Now you just need a set of the 2023 STX black bucket headlights to darken up that front end and you have a mean beast ;)
I finally found a set that didn't cost me my right arm...

NICE, it’s amazing how much more aggressive the black bucket halogens look. Ford should have been using these since 2021 on the STX.

Definitely! When I first saw them I said "that figures" The automakers do it on purpose because they know we'll sell/trade our year old model just for the headlights ?

Sorry to hijack a little here...

These limits are highly dependent upon the efficiency islands of the turbos and wastegate management of boost level. Employing an electronic, rpm-based two-stage wastegate would resolve the starvation at higher rpms when combined with the right fuel and spark mapping.

Did you do the Ford Performance or did you buy your supercharger straight from Whipple? I think my birthday gift to myself this May is the 3.0 Liter Whipple. Whipple lists it for $8,795 and Ford Performance lists theirs for $9,500. Curious the $800 savings from Whipple or if there is missing parts from Whipple that I’d need to get. The Ford performance one seems milder….but that’s not necessarily a negative.

May! Mine too!

I went with the Ford Performance kit, but I bought it from Lethal Performance (currently $8700 + shipping). I’ve seen Lethal Performance offer free shipping around holidays like Memorial Day;) The FP and Whipple kits are identical except for the badge on the lid, the tuning, and engraving on the pulley. I think they both did away with the decal though, I didn’t get one :) I lot of care went into packaging! The kits are incredibly complete, organized, and meticulous! I chose the FP primarily for the tune, which Whipple wrote. It’s basically a Whipple Stage 1 with the factory safeties (for drive shaft, tires, speed limiter, etc.) The FP kit comes with the 3/36 warranty whereas the Whipple it’s optional ($600?).

Hope this helps!

Gotcha, I think I am going to go the Ford Performance route as well. I’d rather keep the 10R80 safe from a blowout with the fail-safes and 700 Horsepower is plenty for me. I would think in 4-High I can get 3.9 seconds 0-60 on a good launch with the FP-700 package.

I just want the blower, I’m not doing any of the stupid decals or the exhaust.

Don't get a Stage 1 anything. Get a Stage 2 or nothing. I personally recommend @beefcake when sourcing these parts. He is a GREAT guy to work with and I always patronize vendors who not only sell parts, but use them as test beds to show us what they do in real life. Hit up Terry and no, he didn't pay me to say this. :D
