3.5 Modifications Necessary?

I am a new 2024 XLT FX4 3.5 eco owner and I wanted to know your opinions on which "mods" are worth it and which are not.

-Air intake? Some people say the modern air intakes designed by Ford are by far designed to do the job well. Aftermarket intakes have the possibility to allow more contaminants to flow through and cause more harm.
**Side note, I currently have a drop-in K&N reusable filter for the stock intake and cabin and am considering going back to paper for that exact reason.
-Exhaust? Is this worth it at all?
-Oil catch can? I have read that the new 3.5's such as the 2024's no longer need this modification and is absolutely unnecessary.
-Intercooler? I saw a YouTube video about how an aftermarket intercooler will allow more air flow and help with engine longevity.
-Valve body upgrade? I think this is for all engines period. Is updating the valve body worth the $1,500 + install cost to prevent 10 speed tranny issues?

Any advice and consideration is much appreciated!!!

IMHO, air intakes are not worth it on stock or mildly modified vehicles of any make/model.

I wouldnt run a K&N on a daily driver. They dont filter as good as paper media filters. I have one on my Mustang, but it only gets driven 2 or 3000 miles a year, and its nowhere near stock.

I would be interested in this as well. My 2021 is currently stock motor wise. But have thought about getting a tune or some other mods but I’m not sure the cost is worth it. It is fast the way it is only thing I would like to be able to tune is the transmission. Get firmer shifts and no gear skipping.

Best thing I did was Tune my 3.5TT. Air intake no difference but the Tune Holy Shit and the transmission now is Awesome. I used Livernoise.

retired!
.... and help with engine longevity.
If longevity / long-term ownership is your plan, I'd ....
  • Not do any of the mods you mention, nor any others except maybe selected FORScan mods to toggle-on a few 'convenience features' already residing in your truck and / or bolt-on feature mods unrelated to the drivetrain.
  • Use all Motorcraft filters with the full synthetic oil of your choice meeting OE spec;
  • Diligently keep up with scheduled maintenance; and,
  • Spend the 'mod money' on a genuine Ford PremiumCARE ESP from Granger or one of the other competing Ford ESP dealers.
.... then enjoy running-up the miles as intended with no worries.

I’ve got their tune, exhaust, and intercooler, totally different truck, feels lighter to drive, pedal response is night and day, no gear skip, firm shifts, no freakin auto stop/start BS.

Catch can, whatever side you listen to, it does capture a mixture of fluids that would’ve went back thru the motor.

Necessary?
Nope
