I added the OEM bed lights to my 22 PB Lariat. Does anyone know if I can ask the dealership to update my BCM or is FORSCAN my only option. I would like to have the dealer do it and prevent issues is the future but am hesitant to ask the question and try and explain what I need done. Anyone have experience with this?

Did you ever find out if the dealer would update the BCM for you? I've added the lights as well, thinking I would use forscan; however, after reading some comments about ruining PCMs I've gotten cold feet!

I just added the bed lights and updated via Forscan today.
It took me longer to backup all the as-built data then it did to actually make the changes.
It just works...

Check out this post from another thread, seems relevant:

So I've been lurking around on this thread for a while. I've had my '22 Lariat 502a Powerboost for about three weeks (I missed the part where the bed lights were only in the bed package too) and I wanted to do things the 'right' way. I ordered all the Ford parts, installed and them decided I'd pay the $200 dealer service fee for an hour of service to have the dealer reprogram. And they had it for over a day and tore the whole cab apart tracing wires or something because they couldn't figure it out. After having some words with the service manager, I took it home, ordered the OBD-usb cable. Made the 4 changes from page 2, and 10 minutes later, everything is working perfectly.
Thank you, you mad genius'.

Is there a post or a youtube video that you used to do this? I am thinking about doing the same, but am just gathering the references from various post on the internet.

Borrowing from some other posts here, but this is all that I used. Should be comprehensive how to list.

My Terrible Instructions

I first changed the bed lighting option to enabled in the BdyCM <-Not BdyCM (AS BUILT format)
and it did nothing.
then made the 4 changes in BdyCM (AS BUILT format) ... One of mine was already set.
I got a warning about making changes that I clicked okay for. Then mine worked.
I haven't gone back to disable bed lighting in the BdyCM so I don't know if that's necessary.
Mine works through the switch in the bed, phone app, and infotainment. infotainment in the truck also displays the lights in the bed on screen.

With respect to the parts, is it fairly easy plug and play? Was there a post that outlined the hardware install?

Thanks for posting all the information. It was much appreciated.

For my truck, it was all plug and play.
There is a wire harness on the frame. It has plugs ready to receive wires from lights and switch.
Those plugs have 'dummy' plug ends plugged into them. Just pull them out and connect the lighting wires.
The lights and switch press into the cutouts. No drilling or screwing.
The cables have christmass tree clippy things that press into cutouts on the undercarriage to hold them in place.
I can attach some pictures if you like.

I do not know if other trims will be prewired****

As far as having a dealer do it... This is my first new vehicle and I was adamant about doing everything the 'right' way and I feel entirely let down by the "professionals".
Your dealer may have competent technicians, but mine had no idea what the hell they were doing. Kept my truck overnight, made me miss appointments, tore cab and door panels apart "tracing wires", they said the were "Waiting on Ford for instructions on how to do it" because they "couldn't get it to take the programming". It was a terrible experience, honestly had I known this was such a quick and easy change I wouldn't have thought twice about doing it myself.

I am orderings parts right now and giving it a go. Seems like you order everything in units of 1 except for the LED lights, which would be 2 units. Order total is 5 items for about 153 dollars plus shipping. Correct?

I successfully used FORSCAN and everything worked fine. I have since had but now a headlight failure, have reversed the changes while getting the headlight issue resolved. I haven't asked the dealer to program it yet, waiting for the headlight issue to resolve.

If I understand correctly, there haven't been any issues caused by using FORSCAN, you only switched things back to avoid any confusion or excuses while having a headlight failure taken care of under warranty?

Yep! Two lights, one switch and one of each wiring harness. One harness is for the solo light and the other has two plugs for the switch and light.

Thanks getting back!
So I'm new to using Forscan, so I'm a little confused. Where do I find the correct addresses and values for my Truck, it's a 22 150 Powerboost, Lariat, with the high level package. When I went to make the changes shown above, I didn't understand the 726-81-01 address being used twice, for both the courtesy switch and the bed light. Is it both functions are controlled at that address in the different columns and that it is repeated to show both changes? Are these addresses constant across trim levels?
