I agree with Stormpeako, HWill, and Mash150, BUT the problem is the total mis-communication and lack of communication from FoMoCo and most of their dealers. They are more than happy to sell you a special order truck (or car) but do not give you realistic expectations along the way. I went through a eleven month frustrating process with my order with no real information communicated from Ford. It is very clear to me that they obviously don't give a f***.

Actually appreciate your insight but take exception to a great deal what you stated.
Agree to disagree.
Medical background- if I ran a life and death medical practice like Ford runs their car bizniz I'd have no living clientele.

Using a medical analogy makes no sense at all here.

If Ford shipped all vehicles as soon as it came off the line they would be wasting resources and running that business poorly.

I understand where you're coming from as someone that is new to ordering a vehicle and thinks you order it and gets built then shipped to you. Just not the way it happens and why I list what usually happens.

Alot of people don't understand the process and think it is simple. Set high expectations and when they see the bads of the process complain without knowing how manufacturing and logistics work.

I wouldn't say they don't give a f***.

There is just no way they can give realistic expections, there are too many variables at play.

As far as the communication, Ford chat/phone is really useless more now then they ever have been before. But it has always been that you can get more information through your salesperson then you can from Ford. One thing I have said before, we are technically not Fords customers, we are the dealerships customers until that vehicle has been delivered and signed for.

I have a great salesperson and have ordered multiple vehicles.

Another thing is most people order a vehicle and just wait for it to show up. They look at it as a custom order that gets here when it gets here. I have seen some forget they even ordered the vehicle.

I think salesperson should give a range and explain the best case and worst case scenario. But as you stated, I can see some not doing that cause it can cost them a sale.

Then they should tell the customer that up front before they order.

BINGO!

Among other items, I did learn a new term through the entire process, namely "staging".
Not staging like in the real estate sense but "staging" as in a completed or nearly completed vehicle may set for many months in one of the numerous Ford related parking lots in Dearborn lots without ever moving and nearly forgotten for reasons unknown to anyone looking in or ones from within.

We would've waited longer but could wait no longer than 4.5 months post-order before we'd have to have our new TT professionally moved from within a distant state for the scheduled extensive solar-Li battery upgrade next week.

[/QUOTE]
We were given the expectation of 3 months by our sales people and "Oh, the wait will be nothing like last years 4 months nor experienced, like the during the pandemic".

Given that figure we traded in a vehicle in Nov to that dealer thinking we, as a couple could use our single remaining vehicle between two driving adults during winter-the expected 3 months. As we entered spring it became more arduous (even outside of the hard TT solar upgrade deadline).

Sorry-No analogy offered, only simple fact of due diligence and keeping head in the game
IF Ford can't cover the bases adequately then hire more people who can cuz they're losing the game.
EDIT: You appear to be cock-sure with your expertise-knowledge base (or just just trolling) that maybe Ford should hire you.

Analogy definition: a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification.

So, you did offer one! One that made no sense as pointed out by another.

I assume you consider it trolling when someone knows more than you and is simply trying to explain the process. If that's the case there are quite a few people in here I guess trolling you.

I know the process. I have ordered vehicles and experienced the good and the bad. I even waited longer than you have for a vehicle. I don't consider myself an expert and you don't even have to understand the process.

Again, glad you got a truck.
