edit/update: took it to the dealership soon after i posted and it was fixed after 3 days. they didnt really explain to me what they did unfortunately.
Hi all,
Made this account specifically because this issue came up. Bought my 2024 F150 XLT back in November '24.
Yesterday, took my truck through the car wash as I have 2-3 times before. The pre-collision sensors were sort of tripping out - popping up and going away, dinging once or twice before stopping quickly - as I went through the wash. Shortly afterwards, I noticed my 360 view was all jacked up. See pics.
Seems to me like it could be:
1) the side view cameras
2) the digital display feed from the cameras/sensors to the screen.
A few notes, trying to reverse it gives me the prompt that Reverse Brake Assist is not available. So I disabled that.
After this, I had a "pre collision warning" which I had NEVER had before after a vehicle pulled out into the street way ahead of me. I was braking and slowing down, it wasn't even a close call. This leads me to believe that the sensors are wonky are taking information in incorrectly. I disabled the pre-collision assist (sketchy?)
ALL OTHER CAMERA ANGLES WORK PERFECTLY FINE. I get a crystal clear feed from the front camera/panels and the rear camera.
But I really don't know. Tried resetting my infotainment. Tried unplugging and replugging the mirror connections on the doors. Still no changes.
I have an appointment set up with my local dealer this upcoming week but I'm a little concerned. I can't find much at all about this happening and I know people who take their cars through the wash. Should I seriously be concerned about taking my dang truck through a car wash?
Any insight or recommendations are fine.
Update: Took it to the dealership Tuesday AM and they just reached out asking for the posted pictures saying "Ford wants to see it".
Have a feeling this issue won't be getting resolved soon.
