On the instant fuel economy gauge on Canadian models it reads 0–4–8 litres per 100 kms. This is useless as even a Ford Escape doesn’t get that kind of fuel economy numbers. It should read 0–15–30 litres per 100 kms. We checked a couple new 2024 models on the lot and they are the same. Dealership is letting Ford of Canada know of this issue. This won’t affect US models as they still register properly in mpg and the other Canadian setting of kms per litre is also okay. Another irritating fact, the display that shows what gear the transmission is in as in 1 to 10 has to be turned on by hitting the + switch on the gear shift every time you start the truck.

As far as the the gears displaying in the gauge pod, the 2024 USA trucks behave the same. You have to hit the +/- button to get it to display every time you start the truck.

I just got my 2024 lariat the other day and I’m extremely disappointed so far in several different things and I think they’re mostly software issues. In regard to this issue, I’m having issues with the MPG screen only going up to about 32 MPG, even when in electric mode or coasting. The screen has never shown over about that 32mpg mark at its highest point. Attaching a picture.

My 23 2.7 is off by about 2 mpg compared to hand calculating. Is there a way to calibrate it or do an offset? I know there was back when I had my 15 Mustang...

Yes I believe it's called engineering mode, I used it to calibrate my mpg to be more realistic. I can't remember exactly how to enter it, but I think there was a YouTube link posted somewhere that showed it, might have even been on a mustang.

Has anyone heard of or found a fix to this issue yet? It’s such a small issue, but makes me want to drive my truck off a cliff when ever I think about it lol

No fix yet. Looked at a late 2024 produced F150 and it is still the same.

Yes. Fill up 2-3 tankfuls. Zero out the meter each time. Keep a log of what the meter reads at the next fill up and what the actual hand calculated mpg is.

Once you have 3-4 tanks, take an average of the hand calculated and the displayed. Then do this:

Actual hand calculated mpg average / displayed mpg average

You will end up with a percentage - it may be .950, .970 whatever.

Multiply the percentage by 1000 to get the AFE Bias number.

Now - get in the truck, close the door, press and hold OK on the steering wheel, count to 5, then start the truck while still holding the ok button down. Let the truck start and wait until the engineering mode pops up on the dash.

Use the up and down arrows to scroll through until you hit AFE Bias. It will be 1000. Hit OK, then use the down arrow to change it to whatever number you calculated. Hit OK to save the new value, then shut the truck off and restart it to exit Engineering mode. You have now trued up the lie o meter and it should be pretty close to accurate.

This doesn't work on my '24... anyone else able to get into this engineering mode on a '24?

This procedure won’t correct the gauge I’m talking about.
