UPDATE: On May 5, Helfman replaced the transmission at the request of Ford. Then, on June 1 and 1,600 miles later, it came back with a vengeance! Louder than before. Yesterday, June 2, I took it back to Helfman and of course on my way out the drive way it was doing it, but by the time I made it to Helfman it wasn't. (I did record it when leaving my driveway). I opened a case with Ford, as this is now from 87 miles to 4,600 miles, with a little over 90 days.

Sorry for the late reply Larry. Yes on the 14th they looked at it, said it was these clips and next day 15th same noise. On 3/16 I climbed under it and with my wife starting it and keep her foot on the brake, putting it in reverse and drive, I was able to pinpoint it coming from the bellhousing.
As soon as you posted telling us about this noise I knew exactly what it was, the TSB might not apply to your Vin, that doesn't matter. The fact if the matter is it was the flex plate, a known problem with 5.0 Litre drive trains.

OP, Just picked up my 2025 F150 last week and at 550 miles, this same sound has surfaced. Seems to go away after warm up and is definitely bell housing area. Certainly sounds like something randomly hitting the spacer or flex plate.

Did you figure out the ultimate issue with your truck yet?

Yes it's been "figured out" but the story gets better. Traded in the 2024 while it was still in for the repair. Bought a 2025 F150 STX 5.0 FX4 on June 18, 2025. June 19, 2025 I towed my boat to the lake, and 240 miles on the odometer.... SAME THING. Called the dealership, called FORD, same song and dance. Friday, June 20, 2025 the service manager called and said FORD has an SSM for the problem. SSM 53878. Torque converter studs are contacting the spacer/separator plate. Specifically, right where the plate encompasses the starter. The dealership got it on Monday, June 23, 2025. Installed a new plate per the SSM. The next day, June 24, 2025, they tested it and it did it again. On June 28, 2025, I picked it back from the dealership. They advised the plate was replaced, torqued to fix the problem and I won't have the issue again. The next morning proved that wrong.

I called them, they called FORD and now the solution is a redesigned plate, and studs. They advised the parts won't be available until July 18, 20225. I'm attaching the photos from the 2025 plate where they found the plate damaged.

Dude. Your more patient than me, my 23 Powerboost lift me walking once, the second time was Freedom Ford's shop foreman at -23 Celsius on a test drive to see just what the problem was, LOL. I balled my eyes out to Ford, in the beginning I got free ESP, then free extended Warranty, then after 2 transmissions and 2 transfer cases among other issues I got 10k trade assistance. I sold that heap to an exporter it went through Manhein Spokane last month, it got a master reset off my Fordpass last month so some poor sucker is gonna geter.

You would think with our new 2025's doing this, there would be many more people raising concerns. It sounds horrible when it contacts the Seperator plate. At first, I thought the engine had an internal failure. I guess we will see if the interference between the stud and the separator plate clearances itself

My 2024 5L with 3500 miles just started making this noise. Has there been any update with the new parts supposedly having come in?

Nothing that I have heard. My truck continues to make the noise on occasion, at start up, for about 5 minutes. Worse when accelerating or braking. It happens about every 5th time I take the truck out.

I just purchased a 2025 F150 Roush supercharged and my truck has been making this exact same noise first thing in the morning when I start it. I currently have about 550 miles on it, took it to the dealership for them to check out. It sat there for six days before they had a tech Listen to it, and they recorded what they thought was sounds coming from the active exhaust bypass valve that Roush puts in the exhaust systems. I sent them a link to this article. They are telling me that my truck does not fall in this tab category even though it makes exact same sound whenever I put it in gear and drive it first thing in the morning. Has your truck issue been 100% fixed since they replaced the spacer between the transmission and the engine?

interestingly enough, it has become much more intermittent. Haven’t heard it in a while *knock on wood*

It’s been two mornings now since I recorded the video I posted the recording of. Hopefully it goes away forever. I would hate for it to come back when it starts getting colder. It’s pretty hot here in the Dallas area.

My 2025 Tremor F-150 with 4300 miles started making the same noise this week. I recorded the sound (listen on attached videos) and I shared them with our local dealership (Rock Hill Ford). They called me later on that day to ask more information as to when I was hearing the noise as it was not happening for them.
I shared these posts with dealership this weekend in the hope that it could help them assess the problem as they are keeping the truck this coming week to continue to work on it.

What was the outcome of this?
