The reality is, your 8 year old truck isn't worth that. The used vehicle (including trucks) market is in a freefall right now, and dealers have used cars they can't sell for what they (over)paid for them 3-6 months ago.

That's the reality of it. NADA/Kelly Blue Book / JD Power valuations are lagging a little, but watch them drop like a rock soon.

The used car boom is over and people just aren't willing to pay 35 grand, or 29 grand, for an 8 year old truck, LED's or not, sorry man.

I know and I'm regretting it. The '15 still has Ford Warranty for another 10k miles...
Even contemplating just surrendering my new 22 and just sticking with the 15.
Was telling Turbo that Van Halen came on my old Sony in my 15 today and I had it cranked and was like this blows away my 22s B&O... Why do I even have it????

And that is one of the reasons I took a shot at the Limited today. Dealer offered me $60K for 2021 Platinum PB. Sticker on that truck new was $74,500 two years ago and I paid $76,500 to get it.

We ended our discussion with my offer of $4.5k under sticker. They would not take it. I may just order a 2024 and go through the agony of that process.

I have a 2021 Platinum Powerboost that I just tried to trade for a 2023 Limited Powerboost. We agreed on the trade in value for my 2021 PB but when it came to the new 2023 Limited they basically would not sell the 2023 Limited for any less than $1,500 off sticker price (sticker was $85K). They had the typical $1,500 dealer add on for door edge protection, etc. which I always reject in these negotiations.

Two years ago I bought my 2021 Platinum at $2k over sticker which was pretty good given the market then. I thought the market had fallen off but maybe not. One thing I have found is that there are very few high trim level Powerboosts sitting in inventory right now in Arizona.

Curious how others are seeing the market right now.

The dealer by my house still has market adjustment price tags on their platinum's and limited of a markup of about 10k those trucks are about 95k

I know not every truck/car will have you smitten after the honeymoon period, but when you are you are.

I was driving an impulse purchased Platinum Powerboost for about 6 months and realized that I COULD be smitten if I could get exactly the truck I wanted based on the truck I was driving.

As nice as that Platinum was, I have had KingRanch trims for nearly 2 decades and I just couldn't bond with the "suit" VS the saddle, if you know what I mean.
So I built the KingRanch Powerboost the way I wanted it, waited the 6 months, and was very fortunate to just get in under the wire on the sudden luxury constraints.

One year and a month later? Second favorite vehicle I've ever owned in my 65 years. Especially emotionally. I'm as smitten as a man can be with a machine.

I might buy other vehicles before I'm done. But not to replace this one. At least not anytime soon. And it's been as close to flawless as it can be.

as for the 22

every time i drive it...i find more and more i really really like ..
my brain says if the vehicle makes you smile ..then you are in the right one for you

I was 26 years old and already stricken with a dangerous, according to my young wife, frivolous gene.

I walked into a Ford Dealership in Houston Texas that reportedly had received the first SVO Mustang supposedly shipped to the forth largest city in America.

Sure enough, it was right in the middle of the huge showroom floor with those red velvet barrier ropes that kept you too far away to touch.

Some salesman approached me and asked can I help you?
I pointed at the SVO and said Yea, I'm buying that car, pointing at the showroom centerpiece.

It was fun overcoming the scepticism. But the highlight was them having to move A LOT of vehicles out of the way for ME to get in and drive that car out of the building.

I've always been into handling over power. On everything. Motorcycles, cars, trucks,....
An SVO Mustang was a stunning handler for the era.

I got all that stuff out of my system a long time ago. 69 Firebird. 2:00 a.m. Nobody around. Speedo went to 160, thought I'd see what it had.

At 140 and climbing, hit a tiny bit of washboard. The steering wheel went to the void. Shut it down safely and never needed to look back.

My 01 XLT is governed to 90 something. Only did that once or twice.

Drove a lot for the job, always in a hurry. Started having recurring dreams, waking up with a sense of impact. Finally dawned on me, to try slowing down. Set the cruise at the speed limit and the dreams disappeared, never to return. I'm fine with it.

A friend had one too (maybe a '70). Not as quick off the line as other friends' Mach 1 or Camaro SS, but man - that thing had looong legs!

One last thing regarding used car sales. My sister in-law recently lost her 2018 Fusion plug-in hybrid due to flooding. She got a pretty good insurance settlement (actually above KBB), and since she really liked the car, attempted to find another one on the used market. She had to do lots of negotiating and dealing with dealers crying about "losing money on it". But she finally got what she wanted, a 2020 (last model year) at the prices she was comfortable with.

There's a lot of used cars out there on lots that dealers are underwater on at the moment. It's not just trucks.

my 79 le mans was a police interceptor big honking v8 and 3 speed it would do every bit of the certified speedo 130.. i set a record from dallas to mt pleasant one night
my grand dad scolded me pretty good for somehow getting to his house in 2 hrs vice the normal 3
but at 18 your invincible
