I just found 2021 Raptor on dealer website that had the digital displays and copied the vin. Go to ford as built data download the asbuilt data for the 2021. Disconnect the battery remove the old controls from your truck install the digital controls recons t battery connect forscan go to HVAC module upload the 2021 asbuilt data to the module from the 2021 file that you saved.
that’s what I did and it worked. A guy on another forum quoted my post that he just uploaded his 2022 saved as built data and it has also worked. I tried to go that but it did not work for me. Also I had to get a test version from Forscan help because I kept on getting an error when trying to write to the HVAC module.
good luck

Has anyone who had successfully switched out their climate controls to 2021 didn’t have to update using forscan. Was hoping it was a plug and play with no forscan use. I’m hoping I can do this when my truck comes in. June 2021 ordered……

I have noticed though that I have a code that I can't clear saying the HVAC module is not programmed, but I have all my functionality after doing the above.
Yes, if you have bought a brand new module you will get a "Module Not Programmed" DTC. I got rid of it by PMI-ing the module via FDRS.

Note I get that DTC even after programming (or maybe mine says "Module not Configured"?).All my functions work, but that DTC says it can't be removed.

If you plug in the new HVAC module, check for DTCs. If you get "Module Not Configured" you need to write module configuration into the module using ForScan. If you get "Module Not Programmed" you will need to PMI the module via FDRS. The last step is not necessary, as it will not affect module functionality, but is necessary if you want to get rid of that DTC

ForScan "programming" and FDRS PMI (Programmable Module Installation) is not the same. ForScan merely writes the configuration into the module. You will need FDRS to actually update module software in the module

Will there still be no Temp numbers in the dials for the 2023 models? Any hope they're adding it back in?

My guess would be no. They saw that it doesn’t matter in regards to sales.

I was quite disappointed when I realized I would not have the temp display on the controls for my 2022 and was planning the change. Since getting the truck and seeing how it is displayed on the 12” screen, I am quite happy with it. I no longer plan to make the change.

What I'm still looking for is the cup holders in the center console for the back seats that have the spring loaded grabbers. I hate that they removed them. I haven't found a part number yet to see if I can order them.

This resonated with me quite a bit. Its a great example of the logical rational brain vs the emotional brain. When I was ordering the lighting I flip-flopped on the control head for a while. I looked at the pictures and then out to the truck twice to look at the temps on the screen. Rational me can’t dispute it’s 100% functional on the screen The execution is less than ideal, lacking a contrasting background field for the numbers to pop out from everything less. Sacrificing quick pick up, but know with time and familiarity it would get easy enough.

I talked myself out of it the first time I went down to look at the screen. I removed the controller from the cart. As I continued checkout, I glanced again at the pictures of the 21 interior on my second monitor. downstairs I went to look again, to picturing the larger cool numbers compared to the screen numbers.

Buying things with creature comforts is more emotional than rational to me. While functional on the screen, having had vehicles with them, its just the best a implementation imo. The argument that the screen is less of an attention shift compared having them quicker a few inches lower doesn’t quite hold for me, I don’t see a real difference, Its is not a heads up display after all.

Thinking of the total price of the truck and the fact I just prefer, not doing it with everything apart didn’t make sense. And I knew whenever I thought about after the trouble to put the lights in, I‘d regret of not having it more than having paid extra for it even though we should have to.

Added back to the cart and checked out. Stuff was delivered yesterday. Now I get to see how fun the install really is! My only concern is getting the controller working without DYCs. Its new so pretty sure an FDRS whammy is needed to clear DTCs even if Forscan can get it functional. That to me is the only reason to not go that route, not seeing a reason to have FDRS and it’s recurring license expense for a single vehicle.

Applaud you folks that only let the rationale side make the call. I didn’t manage to let it win…this time. ;)

No, for me the emotional side didn't want them either. Like I said before, if they were even slightly cool looking, and not 80's styled LCD numbers that aren't even centered on the knob, I might have wanted them.

I don't have a problem that people want them, that's fine, I just think people need to stop acting like this was a travesty to all F-150 owners, and we're the exception that we don't care. There are no true Scotsmen.

1000 times this.
People saying it is worse than GM removing heated seats because GM claims they'll have a retrofit for them............someday at an undisclosed price.

When there's about 3,496 posts on how Ford is the worst company in the world for deleting them, then I think we can talk :p
