2021 XLT Apple CarPlay Message Notifications while on the Audio Tile

This may seem trivial and stupid, but when I first got my truck, I could be on the audio tile listening to SiriusXM and if I got a text, it would automatically switch over to the CarPlay tile with a pop-up notification on who the text was from that I could click on to listen if I wanted.

All of a sudden that behavior has just stopped. Aside from a small beep when I get a text, if I'm on the audio tile I don't get any sort of CarPlay notifications. Ive' tried resetting CarPlay and doing anything I can think of, but it won't go back to the original behavior.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this or may have an idea of what I could try?

1. Check iPhone Notification Settings

• Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages (and any other relevant app).
• Ensure "Show in CarPlay" is enabled
• Make sure notifications are allowed for the apps you want to receive alerts from.

2. Announce Notifications Settings

• Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Notifications.
• Toggle notifications on.
• Under CarPlay, ensure "Announce new messages" is enabled.

3. Check Focus and Do Not Disturb

• Go to Settings > Focus.
• Ensure you are not in a Focus mode (like Do Not Disturb, Driving, or Work) that could be blocking notifications

Did you ever find a solution to this? I just bought a used 2021 and everything seems to work flawlessly besides the fact that I don’t receive on screen message notifications when new messages come through. I’ve tried a bunch of settings and everything seems right…

I believe I tried all the steps that neals55 posted above when this first started happening and nothing helped. I will try them again and see if there are any changes.

I will check my settings I have no issues. Only time they won’t pop up is when I have ringer turned off. Then I just get a red dot on message app icon.

I don’t experience this issue and I typically switch back to CarPlay for the map. I’m not sure if CarPlay isn’t active on the display whether texts will pop.

Just FYI if you enable "announce messages" it will do just that, read them off as they come in. Its interesting, but not exactly what I would want. Especially when I get a notification that a package was delivered along with the tracking number....or a political spam ad lol!
