2021 XLT 5.0 powertrain malfunction (2 videos)

Hi everyone, i have a 2021 f150 XLT with 5.0, I'll try to explain the best i can what's going on. It only happens under certain conditions, you have to be under hard acceleration and then let off the gas, as soon as you do that the truck jerks and it goes into "neutral", the gear changer is still in drive but the truck just revs up like it's in neutral. A message pops up on the dash that says "powertrain malfunction", also there's a sound coming from underneath the truck, i can't really explain it so I managed to film it when it happened.

My truck usually only does that on the shift from 1st to 3rd. Everyone keeps saying it is normal.

That sounds seriously catastrophic for your transmission, yikes. What do you do to fix it and get it working again? Almost sounds like a parking pin bouncing around with that noise it was making towards the end.

All i do is restart the truck and it's all good, no messages, the truck drives like nothing happened, until the next time you give your big V8 some gas and have to stop in the middle of the highway to restart your truck. I need it to get to a dealer when it's in that condition and the only way I can think of is to tow it without shutting it off, it needs to arrive at the dealer with the engine running, otherwise they'll say that they can't duplicate the issue.

That really sounds like the parking pawl. Did it jolt to a stop right at the end there? Yikes! See if the dealer can give you a code recorder or something.

No it doesn't jolt to a stop, it just stops normally. I'll try to get an appointment next week, I'll post updates.

Update:
I took the truck to the dealer, supposedly the transmission was 2qt low on oil from the factory. They filled it up and the truck runs fine, hopefully that solves it.
