2021 platinum Power Boot 4x4 problems and reset by it self

I got 2021 platinum 4x4 power boot. Suddenly the wrench show with message 4x4 had problems. “The Fordpass said powertrain malfunction/ Reduced power” Illuminates when the system has detected a powertrain or four wheel drive fault.

I turned off the 4A and turned off the engine, I waited 30 minutes to start the engine, put it in the 4A everything was gone and looked normal with no error. Next day I drove to the dealer to let them check and they saw the code C06A1 in the TCCM module in the OASIS system ( Wheel hub disconnect motor A control).But it’s cleared by itself. 2 days later I got the same message again when I started the truck and it's cleared by itself. Anyone know anything about this?

Ford removed locking hubs in 4a trucks due to issues. The 22+ TODs have fixed / locked hubs where the front axle is engaged continuously. I have a 22 XLT w/ the TOD and thus have the potential to have the same issue as you though I don't use 4a continuously (I added the TOD xfer case).

If you're a 4a full-timer, you still want to regularly switch back to 2wd to disengage the hub locks to exercise the mechanism. Exercising the 4WD system is something you want to do regardless if you have a TOD truck. Make a habit for a day of the week to exercise it. You can do it on your journey -- Just go back and forth (2wd to 4a and back).

I have had this issue on and off for a month now. It happen 3 times yesterday on a five hour drive in 2H tow haul mode. The problem is that it started when I had 60500 miles on the 2021 Powerboost with a 60k powertrain warranty. Does it definitely have to do with the locking Hubs. Should I take them apart and clean them?

Ok. I took my truck into the dealership when the wrench light was on. They pulled the code P084B and C06A2:77. They then ran it though OSAIS and found TSB 23-2429. They restarted the truck and the codes went away.

They applied the service bulletin by performing a powertrain control module software update.

That cost 285 dollars so hopefully it fixes the issue.

For the record the Ford person on here actually contacted the dealer and was helpful as far as I can tell.

Same problem here with a ghosted C06A1 code. Reading the previous comments, would a transfer case oil change help? It's a '21 job 1 with 124k km. Thanks.
