Hey All -

Hoping someone has had this happen or can offer some feedback/insight. I had the BCM replaced 2x earlier this year, among other issues. Lol. But, in the last few months, I have noticed that there is a major lag in acceleration. Like I push the pedal and it hesitates. A couple times I thought it had stalled out trying to cross traffic into turning lane. Another time I tried to floor it from a dead stop just to see and it did a huge "jerk" and then finally accelerated. I noticed it in hot and cold temps. It feels like it hesitates increasing through the 10 speeds but also while slowing down, say in traffic or coming to a stop light. I did a ride-along with a Ford foreman at a local dealership in ATL, and he said it could be the throttle body needing cleaning or a re-programming of throttle body. Earliest appt I could get is in January, but I wanted to see if anyone has had this happen and can offer a solution or idea? My old truck was a 2011 XLT 5.0 with zero issues and half the time I wish I had never upgraded to my Plati. Though my new truck sure is purty. Lol. ;) Be kind in comments as I'm learning as I go with this new beast. Thank you so much!! -Andrea

No suggestions for help, but my 22 doesn’t have any lag. It’s almost scary how fast it accelerates. Something sounds off.

After coming from the 3.5 Ecoboost I thought my 23 with the 5.0 was a bit laggy too. I put a Pedal Commander on it and it gets up and goes much faster with minimal pedal effort. In my case it was probably the lack of low end torque in the 5.0.

Hey there! Can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to take a closer look at your acceleration concerns.

An inexpensive first try would be to disconnect your battery and clear your KAM. (keep alive memory)
Also described as a KAM reset.

I'm not saying that I'm sure this is the issue, but it's a good process of elimination for a fairly common issue.

Here's a video to follow

Thank you, Snakebitten. This video is super helpful. I think I'm capable of trying this on my own. I'm handy and smart, but some things I'm just too scared to touch. Lol. But, I think I can try this. The same steps would apply even though his truck is older? Appreciate your feedback!

I don't think Ford has changed these basics. And certainly will do no harm.
Kinda like a reboot.
