Good morning all, first time posting on here hoping to get some help or answers.
So much knowledge on these forums it’s insane, I’m not the most knowledgeable about all the inner workings of trucks but I know a lot of people on here are! well here goes.

My 2021 5.0 V8 has been having a bit of issues lately and been reading some people have had same type of problems . Wondering what exactly helped with these issues.
Took my truck in to flush Transmission fluid, after about a week of regular driving I was on the highway and all of a sudden it seemed like truck was having issues changing gears or gears we’re slipping. When off the highway I pulled over and noticed fluid under the pan leaking into exhaust causing smoke. Took it back in and they cleaned it up but could not find source of leak. After about a month of no leaking and no issues . This same thing happened once again on the highway. Having smoke and same thing . Fluid under pan leaking onto exhaust.
after taking it back into they redid the service and all has been good for a few days now.
could this be caused by too much fluid in the transmission? But where is the fluid coming from if all seals are fine? So confused as to why they couldn’t pin point the source of leak.

Also , I found that when doing work around my truck having the keys on me over an extended period of time, when I eventually finishing working and go start the truck it’s like it struggles to turn over. It eventually does but it’s very hesitant. Then the seats and steering wheel don’t go to my set positions they stay static until I press my saved seat buttons then they will moves to saved positions. Same with some other electrical issues. Steering wheel buttons sometimes not working, A/C fan not blowing, power windows not going back up after going down all the way. Stuff like that, but next day totally fine? I can’t understand. Took truck in multiple times to check state of battery and been told battery is fine. Anyone else with these issues that found a solution?
Thanks in advance .

Welcome to the forum Domenic! Good bunch of folks here…

There are more knowledgeable people here than I but re your transmission leaks, once the ATF overheats it overflows and vents out.

There are a number of reasons it can overheat and overfilling is one of them.

Re the electrical stuff, whenever you approach your truck with your keys it detects you and ‘wakes up’ electronically. It’s not normally an issue if you get in and drive it but if you do it continuously without starting then the SOC is going to temporarily drop off.

Re some items not working, as SOC drops on many vehicles electronic functions are often restricted to preserve your ability to ‘get home’.

I’ve experienced this on my other vehicles and someone on here can confirm if our F150’s also do that.

If I were you, I’d invest in a battery tender (eg CTEK) that conditions you battery as you’d be surprised at what a small drop off in SOC does.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Yes seems like a bunch of good knowledgeable people here from forums I’d read online.

is there any “known” issues with this transmission that would cause it to overheat other then overfilling? And when you say overheat. Would I not have noticed that on the dash cluster? I’m only saying that because the temp gauges were reading normal at that time.
As for the battery tender I will definitely take a look into that. Thank you for the heads up, as I do tend to do a lot of work out the back or around my truck.
thanks again.

The trans issue can be chalked up to a tech that is incompetent and not concerned with customer satisfaction. If the tech would have taken the time to get trans to the proper temp and then checked fluid level, he would have seen that the trans was overfilled. What you experienced was what HD T05 said fluid expanded and went out the transmission vent.

Thank you!
I’ll have to bring this up the next time I bring it in. I had a feeling this was the case , just wasn’t 100% sure.
Thanks again!
