Hello,
I know there are a lot of threads talking about the issues with deep sleep mode but I haven’t seen many that mention deep sleep after sitting for 4-6 hours. My battery checks out just fine. Every time I get an OTA something else breaks. Does anyone have any thoughts? @Ford Motor Company can you please assist? It’s becoming a safety issue because we can’t see anything until the truck is started in the dark.

How are you checking your battery? Sure sounds like a battery issue.

I’m checking the battery voltage while turned off (12-14 volts) Then I check cold start voltage, drops to 10v at start just for a second. Is there any other way I could check?

Should check without waking up truck after 30 min. Leave hood open fob in house then check voltage. Mine was around 12.2. Deep sleep issues. You search battery issues here you will find that most likely your issue.

If you can find one, use an OBD and check your state of charge too.

If stock battery, Id replace. Mine in my 2021 maybe, maybe lasted 1 year. No issues since I replaced.

Haha yea I had a similar issue at one year also. The battery was smoking in my garage. Wouldn’t jump start. Wrecker had to tow a brand new truck out of my garage. It was a proud moment ?

It might be useful to check for a parasitic drain even if it passes a load test, or the battery is fine when you tested it after driving. Unplug any plug-n-play aftermarket accessory such as a dashcam. Turn the lights off (icon with the circle). Pop the hood. Close and lock it to signal the vehicle to enter sleep mode. Put your key fob in a faraday cage or pull the coin battery to block it from communicating with truck. Wait 60 minutes MINIMUM. Perform the parasitic drain test. It should be pulling less than 50 milliamps after its gone to sleep. To diagnose you have to pull fuses 1 by 1 until the milliamps drops to below 50 or an acceptable level. It may be something like an aftermarket stereo, lights, etc. Probably best to keep pulling fuses 1 by 1 and monitoring if the amperage drops when you pull. For each one that drops, mark that one down as a problem child and move on to the next one, until you get the mA below 50.

Example of how to:

Another good one I heard of was some of the doors on the 14 Gen+ F-150s had newer/better "door seals" installed, but from the factory they were installed slightly misaligned. Because its slightly out of alignment, the door may still lock, but the door ajar circuit stays open, and as a result the BCM will not send the sleep command and cause a parasitic drain. It may also cause your alarm to go off randomly as well. It's easy to tell if you are experiencing this by simply checking to see if the white light on the cab and tailgate stays on for a long time after you close all doors and lock the truck with fob. They should fade out in a few seconds. If it stays on constantly, it can/will kill the battery over time, or force the truck to deep sleep. I turned off the welcome lights on mine and I always check to make sure the tail light lamp goes away.

My ‘21 used to go into sleep mode all the time I would reset the BMS and it would go away for a while. I got tired of it I changed the battery it’s been fine since. I changed it in December when it got cold out.

Did you swap for an H8 or just replace with OEM H6 again?
