2021 Brake Booster ABS failure at 40k miles $2300 to replace!

So was able to use a friends scan tool today instead of forscan and received 3 other codes I couldn't see. Looks like theres a TSB for the U0415...Any suggestions Saleen? The truck also has 3 open recalls...Do I just show them this report when I take truck in for those and ask them to update the Software?

The U0415:86 code may be a result of the C101F:49‑68 in the ABS module, but it could also be a separate issue. In either case I would want to have the ABS module updated to the latest software level when it gets replaced.

Printing out a copy of the TSB and the code scan you have could be helpful. I would hand the shop a copy of those and ask that they make sure that both the C101F:49‑68 and the U0415:86‑2E codes are gone after updating the ABS module to the latest software.

I attached a copy of the TSB if you need it.

It's also given the abs warning several times now after hitting a bump without the brake even being touched...Soooo sounds like a loose/damaged connector somewhere...I've crawled all over and haven't found anything obvious. I've resorted to unplugging a wheel speed sensor to disable the system. Truck goes in Monday for 3 unrelated recalls and to diagnose abs issue. Called several dealers including Lakeland the booster itself is on Nationwide backorder anyway with no update as to when any will be available....So frustrating and the fact you don't have the option of putting a used one on from a salvage to even get by....Just either have to live with the constant dinging or disable and lose a bunch of features.

Hey man thanks for all the help...Question dealer can't source a booster at least not one that another dealer will let go....But I found some new on ebay...The part numbers are identical save the last 2 letters...The one on my truck is stamped ML34-2D335-AR ...The new assembly on ebay is ML34-2D335-CF...Any idea how to confirm compatability...My local dealer says they'll install and program if I can source...Even a used one if we have to....Thoughts?

I did some digging, but unfortunately I don't have enough information to 100% confirm fitment. The part numbers you posted are engineering numbers and not service part numbers. You can often cross reference an engineering number to a specific service part number, but the ones you posted aren't cross referencing to anything in the parts system I use. When this happens it normally means that the engineering number applies to a specific component of an assembly and that component is not sold separately.

It looks like Ford is listing PL3Z-2005-B as fitting all engines and trims for the 2021MY so it's possible that they are all the same, but I've seen enough catalog errors for the 2021MY that I have to at least mention the possibility that this isn't correct.

How was your truck? Have you got it fixed?

Mine has the same error code, was manufactured almost the same time, similar miles driven, and error happened in June too

Warranty was expired just 2 months ago.

Wound up sourcing a new old stock booster from a place called Green Sales...My local dealer installed it and programmed it this week . They only charged me $219 for the install...Booster was $551 . Used part# ml3z 2005x...Ford was no help with the availability of the part# they currently show which is pl3z 2005e...No availability no idea as to when it will be available...Finally talked to one young lady at ford in the corporate parts dept who helped me find the original part number and referred me to Green Sales..

Based on your discussion with them, it seems like PL3Z-2005-E will fit, right? (Mine is 2021 XLT V8)

What was your process with the dealer from the beginning? Since you read the error code before going to them, did they charge you $175 for diagnostic before giving the quote of $2300? After you bought the part online, you just bring it to them and they will install it?

Sorry for asking many questions because the dealership where I have my truck maintained wanted me to pay $175 and leave the truck with them for 48 hours (without loaner) so they can diagnose.

You'll find the PL3Z 2005E is NOT in stock when you call...Nationwide backorder and has been for months...Personally called nearly 20 dealers...That's why I had to go with the old part # ML3Z 2005x
The PL is the new replacement but ford hasn't shipped any and doesn't show any signs of shipping any and that came directly from a girl at ford.parts.com

ABS Module just shows generic valve failure....And it chimes EVERYTIME you touch the brakes

If it helps you can unplug the front left wheel sensor (brown plug just behind the airbox) At least it will only chime 6 times on startup and disable a bunch of crap...Bit it's drivable...That's what I did for the last month
