I'm at 55,000 miles and due for new plugs. The dealer quoted me 17.00 per plug and 2 hours install totaling 500.00 for the job. My question is does this sound high?

The $17 per plug sounds about right, but the labor comes out to about $170 per hr before taxes. You don't have an independent garage that you use that could change your plugs? I have a 3.5 V-6 that the plug change is super easy, but I know any V-8 is difficult. Napa online shows NGK plugs for $14.69 each, you could get Motorcraft plugs from your dealer as I would not buy them online, too many counterfeit motorcraft parts out there. Is it a 60,000 mile change interval or are you doing them early as preventive maintenance? Good luck.

I've had my 5.0 for three months, but I plan to do this job myself when the time comes. Looking under the hood, the only part that looks challenging is the back two cylinders on the passenger side. They're up under some stuff, so I'll have to do a little hand yoga back there.

My truck is 3.5 (only 6 plugs) and my dealer quoted $858.00. I am doing it myself.

Out of curiosity, what plugs did they spec you? I'm at 64K and will be doing them soon.
