Back in ’87 when I was 19, my dad bought a brand new ‘86 Buick Grand National. I had a lot of seat time in that car. Super quick.

I think my 3.5EB could take it in the 1/4 mile. Would be very close if not.

the GN was an absolute beast for the time. Legend has it that it was quicker than the corvette at the time and GM did not allow them to advertise a quicker time

Yep, you are correct. That car was indeed a beast. Once you got past the turbo lag and the boost hit, you better hold on. What a fun car that was. Great memories…

Saw a video of a guy testing 3 identical trucks except for engines.
The 3.5 EB was the quickest—about 5.6
2.7 EB just barely trailing that, around 5.7
And the 5.0 was right at six seconds.

All three were were 4x4
Test started in 4hi and traction control off

The 3.5 EB should be quicker, it has the same HP as the 5.0 but about 100 ft-lbs more torque.

I think that’s what Bryan was saying with the 3-5 being the quickest at 5.6

I’d love to see the 5-0 do a 0-60 with my config (3.73 gears) usually the ones those guys test have the taller gear sets

That would be your 60 foot though, not 60mph correct?

That is my estimated 0/60. I go 60 ft in 1.2, hitting 55 mph+
