Sounds like you're putting the R shock on the L and vice versa. Or they were assembled 180 degrees off. I had the same issue when I assembled the shocks 180 degrees off on a different truck.
Luckily I did have them on the correct sides. The bottom mounts were 90 degrees off. Ended up using a big socket and a breaker bar to spin them into position after bolting the tops in place. All squared away now.

The front struts both come with the bars in the same position so they can be used for either side. Because of this, you need to turn them 90 degrees after the top is mounted to get them to align correctly.

IMPRESSIONS DRIVING:

this vehicle now drives like a truck. like most folks say, the "floating" and body roll is gone. the steering is firm, and the truck feels like it hugs the road now. very pleased so far with the handling. the BDS upper control arms look great, and are MUCH beefier than the stock UCAs. very pleased with the overall handling now.
Newbie Q here, but what's the reason for getting new UCA's? I just ordered this 6112/5100 set - and am wondering if I should upgrade the UCA's too?

The new UCAs were for a couple of reasons:

1. easier caster / camber alignment with new front coil overs;

2. Beefier new coil overs call for stronger UCAs (I mean.. just look at the stock UCA)

3. I was paying the labor to install the new coil overs anyway and the UCA parts are right there to swap at same time, so marginal cost was simply the parts cost for neW UCA. Went with BDS

No regrets on any of it

The other main reason is problems with the upper ball joint binding or failing over time due to the geometry changes. I left my stock UCAs when I installed mine, but as you mentioned, you need to remove the entire coilover assembly to install new UCAs.

I went with icon UCA’s. I went about ~4,000 mi on factory UCA’s before the switch, what a difference they make in ride and handling characteristics. Night and day, just don’t test it out to hard in sport!

So seriously considering this over the EIBACH PRO-TRUCK 2.0R system due to its supposed valving and that its like 2.65" instead of 2.0" and more is better right, LOL. No replacement for diplacement as they say :), But seriously the ones who have done this kit has anyone told you or do you feel now after having htem for xxx miles that oyu should have upgraded the UCA as well? and anyone who did upgrade the UCA do you have any advice and are youi happy you did so, thanks in advance!

I read to many stories about the factory UCA hitting the coil over. It was enough for me to not screw around with "trying" the factory UCA first then decide. I installed BDS UCA's the day I installed the FP leveling kit. I figured I had the front end apart already and needed an alignment afterwards, so get it all done at once. You get back a little caster in your alignment. You also get a serviceable upper ball joint with most aftermarket UCA's too. You do have to watch wheel backspacing with some of these aftermarket UCA's.

I get it, they ain't cheap and make you wonder, do I really need those things..... I'm very happy I installed them if nothing more than peace of mind.

Hope this helps.

That Does help and I would stiull like to hear form others. My plan was to keep My BAP Black wheels and just change out to 285/60R20 tires, nothing crazy aggressive or over sized since I have 3.31 gears, I'm a bit limited in that department. Should I be fine with the factory wheels, with the BDS UCA?

I think you might be pushing it with the factory wheels. I believe the factory 20's have a 6.5" backspace (+44 offset). A 275/60R20(OEM tire) is 10.8" vs a 285/60R20 is 11.2, so slightly wider yet.

I looked over the BDS install instructions for 2021+ F-150 4WD and they say:
"0-2” Lift: Will work with stock wheels / tires with a ~ 1/4” wheel spacer, wider tires on stock wheels may get close to the ball joint cup and control arm when turning. 5.5”- 4.5” back spacing is recommended for control arm clearance. Tire size is relative to lift amount"

UCA’s could hit the springs only if using a spacer lift on top of your factory setup. Doesn’t happen with coilovers as the shock limits the down travel.

I'd love to hear a little more about how the UCAs increased performance! What you didn't like before in handling, and maybe how they improved it. Thinking of the switch, but always thought they might not make a big enough difference. Thanks for sharing

I'm at roughly 18K miles on my setup with stock UCAs. Thinking about switching but mostly worried about added noise or earlier service intervals with a non-OEM UCA. I'm not a racer, but do spend a fair amount of time offroad. I don't want a squeeky setup for daily driving. Like you, interested to hear people who've put some miles on them!

I don’t know how to describe it! The front end feels more solid, when going over bumps the way the suspension cycles is smooth without the harsh bottom out. Also it eliminated a popping noise in the front end I was experiencing with just the level. Don’t take this negatively but it also feels better when cornering, I would describe the feeling as a progressive sway bar of sorts. Feels amazing through corners.
With the icon delta joint maintenance is very easy, just grease at each oil change. Just make sure and use the right grease! Hope this helps!
