Not to be rude but read your manual. Tow haul does nothing to steering. All it does is hold RPM longer and engine brake. It’s all transmission related.

Ok you believe what you want drive modes don’t affect steering. Drive modes are transmission related

I stand corrected. From the manual:

“The system tunes the steering and suspension to enhance driving comfort when towing or carrying heavy loads.”

Also on google (obviously note the best source) but it states


Tow/Haul Mode:
In this mode, the steering and suspension are adjusted for better stability and comfort when towing a trailer or carrying a heavy load

Just hit 8k. Did it since day 1.
something is wrong, Transmission man needs to look at it. Or disconnect the battery let it set 15 minutes reconnect it and drive it about 30 minutes or so , see if it's any better then.

You mean something is wrong in that it shouldn’t be in 7th gear at 40 mph?

My 3.5 2023 does the same thing. Its always wanting to be in a high gear and lug along. Which i personally dont mind. I enjoy the torque just chugging along but when I want it to move quickly it downshifts. But it does seem its normal. How ford programmed it for gas mileage. I dont really have an issue because when I want to accelerate more quickly it doesn't hesitate to downshift and get me moving. Sport mode is fun though. It does keep it from lugging as much. I was in normal mode earlier today around 40 mph I think lugging in 6 and switched to sport and it went straight to 5th gear

My 2.7 regular cab can run 7th at 40. 8th and sometimes even 9th at 45.

It (the Ford tuning) is all about the fuel economy.
Ok, good. I find it difficult to believe that something that is best for economy can somehow be bad for the engine/trans.

MPH and gear should also vary based on axle ratio. Mine is 3.55.

I wonder too how installing larger tires messes things up.

Not unusual. The 2.7 is tuned or at least was tuned when I last messed with it to roll in torque demand related to pedal position a bit faster than the 3.5. I would guess that hasn't changed for MY24 or MY25.

I get an occasional harsh 4-3 downshift coming to a stop that I don't remember having in my 22 2.7 which is kind of annoying but not a huge deal.
