I've always had a sneaky suspicion that the ones that pop are the ones in a bind of some kind while they are heating up.

It's a big piece spanning a fair amount of real estate. The cab wouldn't have to be flexed but a small amount, invisible to the eye, to introduce a bit of pressure at some spot in the sheet.

Why else would some (most) never pop, yet some pop more than once?

Just a hypothesis.

And I'm not saying that a newer version isn't less prone because perhaps it is manufactured to be able to withstand that stress force better?
Interesting theory, I don’t necessarily disagree either. It’s definitely possible that’s playing a part in the ones that do pop. I just saw so many people posting about it on the FB 12th gen groups that I have this weird (sort of irrational ?) anxiety about it breaking. It seems they’ve got it figured out now.

Well... There is a BIIIIIIG difference between a Houston winter and Wisconsin winter... You'd probably walking around in shorts and a t-shirt saying something to the effect of "You call this winter?! This is positively balmy!"

But yeah, you should be fine.
Lol! I’m sure there is a huge difference in the winter months but I love it, nothing better than watching the seasons turn in the Midwest (IMO). I live in Southern WI so we don’t get as much snow as I’d like but we definitely get the cold.

I had a 2009 for six years, a 2015 for seven years, and now a 2022. I have used and now use the rear window defog extensively and never had a problem, nor do I know anyone that has. Must be a small percentage of people with the issue. As someone mentioned, a manufacturing process that has been corrected?

I don't have the numbers so I'm not sure what the percentage is. I'm sure it is a "small percentage" being that Ford sold hundreds of thousands of them. In my opinion, any percentage over "0%" is too high. Take a look at the FB groups and any other 12th gen forum, it was/is very common and Ford was pushed to recall and refused to do so. I don't know if it was a consistent issue with the 13th gens as I only saw a handful of those breaking but consider yourself lucky that you never had an issue with the 12th gen.

I am not here to discuss whether some believe it was an issue or not. I was only curious if people are still experiencing this. It seems the problem has been rectified in the engineering of the 14th gen. At this point I think we can let the dead horse lay.

I don't think anyone has stated that it wasn't an issue.
While I am sure there are folks that don't know about the issue (my 90 year old dad has a Gen12. He doesn't know and has never been on a forum), it's far from unknown on the internet.

I wasn't trying to discuss anything. You asked for feedback on whether people are experiencing this. This is my feedback that I am not experiencing it on my '22 along with a bit of my history.

Just felt like you were trying to downplay the issue and make it less than it is because you didn't experience it, that's all. Thanks for your input and have an awesome day!
