All I can tell you guys that when your trucks finally arrive, make sure you check, double check, and check again every spot, every system, every screw, every lock, every mechanism, before driving off.
And don't be surprised if you find issues when you finally get home after driving 2-3 days just because it didn't rain on your way from the dealer, which means you didn't have a chance to check your Rain Sensing wiper thus you would not realize they don't work because Ford neglected to secure the sensor where it belongs so it fell inside the cover. Ask me how I know. And it didn't happen to me only, it happened to many, that's how I found out what the problem is (in this forum).
That's just one issue out of several that I've been dealing with since bringing the truck home.

Ford is doing a hell of a shitty job building these trucks and it seems like they pretty much elimintaed their QC process. Total disgrace.

Dang. You’re making me likely regret going with Granger…

How was the pick up process at least?

Also, please detail everything so we can learn from your experience.

Sorry bro

Ford’s is working for me but no movement. Still says “built” and awaiting shipment. It’s said that since last Monday.

OK, so I want to make it clear: nothing is Granger's fault! I am not holding them responsible for any of these issues.

Chip is a super nice guy. He picked us up at the airport together with another gentleman from FL who bought a beautiful Tremor Superduty. My truck was ready when we arrived. While waiting for the finance guy we went through things in the truck, Chip also went ahead and repolished the windows and tires, answered my questions....very pleasant process.

Granger Ford is very busy. According to Chip they doubled their business. They all have a much bigger load of work, sales as well as finance whom you need to sit with to sign papers.

If I could change one thing, and you may take it as an advice for your pickup (in retrospect I would certainly do it myself if I could repeat the process) - plan on arriving the day before, not the day of.

We woke up very early and had to take a connecting flight, putting us in DSM at 11 am and at Granger Ford before noon. So "theoretically" you have plenty of time to go through whatever you planned for the inspection. In reality, we wanted to get to our booked hotel (370 miles away) at a reasonable time, so we felt a bit of a "pressure" to rush with things. I was pretty tired because of the early wake up (and the time difference) and also super excited with the new truck…it’s like a new toy that you don’t know which button to push first. I certainly put time inspecting the truck, checking the exterior very carefully (paint for example), checked underneath the vehicle and the roof, the large items, lights, tires, wheels, etc. looking for things that can catch your eye, cracks, scratches, rips, missing parts, how things sound (engine, closing doors), etc.
Keep in mind that there are faults and defects which can only be identified while driving and you may not be able to see or notice during pre delivery. For example – the wipers (more on that later).
There is no doubt in my mind that had I arrived the dealership when they open at 9, after a full and good night sleep, I would be ten times more focused and relaxed to inspect the truck inch by inch.

These are the issues as of now, all of them discovered after arriving home.

- Driver’s seat leather cover zipper: There is a zipper that connects the main seat cover with the back piece. It’s kind of a flap on the back of the seat and there are two zippers, one on each side. The day after arriving home I wanted to check the back pocket. As soon as I put my hand in it and pulled slightly to look inside, the zipper on the right side got undone, like a zipper on a jacket that opens up in the middle. See the pic below:

Ford F-150 12/06/21 built week 20211215_094202

The zipper is inside and it is very hard, almost impossible, to get into it. I went to a local dealer yesterday to show them the issues, knowing they would not be able to work on them on a Saturday, and one of the guys there found the end of the zipper which is tucked underneath the seat. While working on it, he basically opened the zipper all the way up, so now it is completely open.

- I sat in a few Lariats, at least one with 502A, and they all had tilting head rests. And based on a little “survey” that I did here, the vast majority of them, including a few XLTs, came with them. My head rests do not tilt. So I wonder if these are included in the parts shortage and Ford simply put whatever they had on hand, hoping that I – and others – won’t notice.

- Partitioned Lockable Fold-Flat Storage – it has two locks, one on each side. The passenger’s side one works fine, the driver’s side one is broken. It is a special round lock and the key does not go all the way in, it does not reach the last pin. In addition, while the key is inside (as far as it goes), the lock itself can be pulled out completely from the hole (that’s why I know that the key does not reach the last pin).

- Rain Sense Wipers – again, this is one of the problems that no one can recognize if it’s not raining.
I drove the truck yesterday (first time after bringing it home) and it rained. I turn the wipers on, I get one wipe in the intermittent range but nothing else. It rained heavily and it must have activated any Rain Sense, or Automatic Wipers, however they are called. I had to manually move it forward to the next level in order to clean the window. It only worked "normally" in the standard low/high speeds.
So while driving I went to the vehicle settings and turned Rain Sense OFF, and immediately the ‘standard’ intermittent function started working.
After getting home I made a quick search and found this post from this forum. I rushed to the truck and took the cover off, and sure enough my Rain Sense sensor was hanging there like a Xmas Tree ornament (see pic below).

Not only it wasn’t partially attached as described in the above mentioned post, the bracket or clip that is supposed to hold it in place was not even there (again – see pic below from the other post):

Ford F-150 12/06/21 built week Inked25BB4C62-72C7-41B4-9F98-D1B2DA726297_LI

Clip is MIA, gone, doesn’t exist….perhaps another part shortage?
The sensor has an adhesive sticker on the “outside”/window side, but it’s not strong enough to hold it in place (there is a space between the sensor and the housing cover).
So I cut a thick piece of foam and put it inside the cover with 3M tape, pressing against the sensor into the window. Clearly I am not waiting for Ford to look at it and then order the part and then calling me back to install the damn thing.

IMO the items above are caused by lousy work as well as lack of quality control and they are a direct result of rush and urgency by Ford to complete trucks and get them off the lot. And this is extremely frustrating. We all wait for these trucks for months, for many it’s our “dream vehicle”, they cost a fortune, and it is totally unacceptable to receive a 60K + dollars vehicle with these defects.
I can tell you that since 2001, my family took delivery of six brand new Hondas and ever did we experience anything like that with issues, missing parts, etc.

On top of that, you can’t go back to Granger because you live hundreds or even thousands of miles away, so they refer you to any Ford dealer, but when you get to the local dealer the first question they ask you “did you buy it here?” and when you say ‘No’, you immediately notice that face expression, that body language of “oh…then why are you coming here to fix those problems?! You should contact your sales person”.
They will take care of it at the end of the day, but they now schedule appointments for end of January and only during the week, so you need to take time off, they will most likely need to order parts, so another wait, another appointment….

And there are other issues, although I’m not sure they are specific to my truck:

- HomeLink – will not learn my garage door opener, period. Tried with the remote, tried from the opener itself. Does not work. And I am not alone…not that it should make me feel better, but just another system that is “included” with the truck but doesn’t really work.
Again – something you would not notice at time of truck delivery.

- Getting an error on the SYNC4 that FordPass (on the SYNC4) Disconnected. Happens all the time.
BTW – I am totally unimpressed with the SYNC 4, but that’s a story for another day.

Another SYNC4 and Ford stupidity:
I am an older guy, old school. I like listening to FM radio. On page 624 of the Owner’s Manual it says this:

Ford F-150 12/06/21 built week 1639950194412

Waiting for someone to show me that button….even the guy at the local Ford yesterday couldn't find it.

Anyways, problems will be fixed eventually (I hope so), it’s just very disappointing.

Get there the night before ?

Glad to hear the process is easy. With my work schedule and family obligations, flying in a day early isn’t really an option. I need to fly in, sign the paperwork and get back on the road asap as I have an almost 20 hour drive back home.

Yeah, I am concerned about the long term reliability based on all the corners I see Ford cutting to get these trucks out. Sucks as I am sure the managers are pushing the line to just get them out and sacrificing the quality step at the end. Terrible for all of us that have been waiting for months and months only to get a seemingly half-assed truck.

Well, I will be doing my best to inspect the truck and hoping that the fact my truck has been on a production hold means maybe someone spent a few extra mins with my truck…

Anyone have any shipping updates on their truck? Tracking on mine has said delivered to Voltz Yard since 12/14. This last bit of the wait is the hardest!

Nice! Mine shipped a couple of days after yours so I'm glad to see yours is almost delivered already.

How'd you track down specifically where it is?

Dealer sent screen shot, it had rail car #. Tracked CSX with no luck. Saw a post to check Norfolk Southern system. Followed the prompts and it gives you current status of the specific rail car.

My MY21 is still sitting on "chip hold". So, it is still in KC waiting for something.
