what I was told made a lot of sense.... Pre-pandemic and before the panic buying of everything, it was not uncommon for trucks to be on a lot for 4-6+ months. No one gave a crap then about trucks sitting so I don't see how it would be any different now.
But if the trucks that can be started probably won't be again for months unlike dealership vehicles. At least I wouldn't think ford would pay someone to go and periodically start them.

that would be the only thing. vehicles on lots would get test drove or brought into the wash bay. When I sold cars it was not uncommon to not start a vehicle for months. We were a smaller dealership with over priced vehicles, so they sat a LONG time....we had used vehicles a LONG time, never anything came back with issues for the most part.... i think the oldest was like 4 years on the lot. LOL

That's very interesting, seems like one of those things that was possibly true years ago and has stuck around with us for years. Most vehicles must be built with materials that don't age like it use to.

we had a supercharged Pontiac solstic GXP on our showroom brand new for like 3 years. Owner kept it to wait for the final pay rebates to the dealership. then we sold it for new MSRP to someone that wanted that limited build car. It never once was started on the showroom in 3 years.

Received confirmation from the dealer today that there are no holds of any kind on my truck, and that the June 6-11 delivery date is still good data. Truck left Dearborn via convoy and will be loaded on a railcar for KC, then convoy from KC to Des Moines. Interestingly, the railcar actually passes through Iowa on the way to KC. Apparently KC is the main freight rail hub in the midwest for Ford and Chrysler, so the 3+ weeks shipping time is mostly logistical mumbo jumbo and not time sitting until missing parts arrive.

OK, just went old school and called Ford directly. I talked with a lovely lady named Betty. She was helpful with some information that I thought I'd share. She told me I was on microchip hold and read me a list of what was holding up builds:
  • Auto Start/Stop Module - nope. Had it removed
  • Auto Park Assist - nope.
  • Carmello (sp?) seats - nope. Lariat black leather
  • Max Recline - nope. Again, Lariat
  • Contour Seats - nope. Lariat...
  • Adaptive Cruise Control - DING, DING, DING! There you go.
So apparently if you have one or more of the above you are in chip hold. My ETA to the dealer is confirmed to be 9/28-10/4. You could hear her surprise when she read off those dates and she advised I call back in a month to see if it came off chip hold. She was very helpful and sympathetic so as I always advise when calling, don't shoot the messenger.

Updating sheet now.

This is exactly the kind of information we need. I have none of those options in my build.

...and I suspect it's Dearborn specific as KC builds look like they are shipping. I suspect this is very fluid as inventory of these modules come in and I can imagine that if you are missing multiple modules then they wait until they have all of them instead of slotting in just one and waiting. Just guessing but it may be why some have, and will, wait longer than others. Just my $0.02 and very much conjecture.

Just a quick update

My tracker now shows as "in production." Ordertrack.app shows as in transit. Ford Chat says its too busy come back later. Called the hotline and the guy says its in transit.

Basically until your truck is in your driveway, you may be on a chip hold. Or not. Who knows. Still waiting on my dealer to get back to me, but even that won't really satisfy me because I've seen too much **** today.

Ford used to put extra rebates on old VIN#'s to get them to move at year end. Those are the vehicles I specifically bought for myself, wife and father-in-law. We've never had a problem with any vehicle.
This is true for anyone that dropped by a dealer and took one off the lot. Rewind 3 years and tell a guy with a special order his truck will wait for 6 months rotting away while it waits for parts

Powerboost won't have the option, it automatically does it being hybrid. It's for only ICE vehicles.

FWIW I've seen PB window stickers with auto start/stop removal.
