Oh, and here's a funny side note (since we've talked about doing updates/fixes ourselves). The reason for taking it in was mainly oil change and recalls.. I guess they tried to also apply some of hte OTA updates and when the Service lady called she said "We applied all the updates. But it was...
Just a quick update. I don't know if the shop found the TSB or what, but they said they did the recalibration and it fixed the rear brake assist (which is what I was after). I don't know if they are going to try and charge me, but they never quoted me a price so if they do try to I will 1) show...
To be fair, this is the first time in over 10 years I've had an issue with my dealer. They are normally great. This is (I belive) a new service manager and she's a hard ass. My wife had oil changed, tires rotated, and recall work done and when we drove off one of the tires would not report on...
Ok. I found out how you can do it in a parking lot and initiate it with Forscan. If the dealership won't do it. I'll do it myself.
Sorry for the complaining. Just wasn't a great way to start the day.
As I mentioned above, the camera calibration is not something you can do in forscan (as far as I am aware). I didn't take it in at the time because I knew the solution was a camera recalibration and I just was going to wait for the first oil change.
I will be more than happy to use forscan to...
I get it....however this is documented pretty well over the internet that removing the tailgate has a high probability of causing you to have to recalibrate the cameras. Even if you follow the process to a T.
I may be coming across as "I want something for free!", but honestly I think it was...
It is my understanding that you have to actually have a "Setup" to recalibrate if the truck refuses to do it itself (drive for a 1 mile in a straight line). The service manager even mentioned "we would have to pull out all the checkerboard stuff".
If there is a way to do this via forscan, sure...
Because we followed an process outlined in the manual. I helped the guy remove the tailgate and put it back on. He didn't move anything except to unplug the tailgate and plug it back in. Again, this is outlined in the manual. It is also very common for this issue to occur if you remove the...
But why not?
I did an operation covered in the manual (removed the tailgate and put it back on) and now the reverse brake assist doesn't work. Everything I've found online says that the cameras have to be recalibrated, something only Ford or some specialized shops can do.
For an operation...
Edit: For those that fall upon this thread. I wrote this in the heat of the moment and I think that caused a lot of confusion. I took the truck in because I had the "Reverse Brake Assist" error. I had read that could be caused by the tailgate being removed and when added back needed to have the...
I agree, which is why I haven't do it.
As to it being a truck thing. It is with the powerboost. Regenerative braking means you use the mechanical brakes a lot less. I have to assume the brake pads and rotors will last forever on these trucks if you use that system efficiently enough :)
I find that even without ceramic coating my rims stay far cleaner far longer than my wife's explorer.
If you don't mind me asking, do you have the sport rims? I haven't ceramic coated mine because I'm worried it will mess with the matte/satin finish(which I like)
Well the truck did finally charge over night from 64% to 84% but opening the doors doesn't turn on the screens (like it's in deep sleep mode). My charger also is supposed to change to green pulsing when it's over 75%, but it hasn't done that. I wonder if this is because I believe the truck tries...
