I bought my 2020 used but had the fluid changed at 88k miles and recently the transmission finally gave out. 182k miles I can't complain too much. Full rebuild cost about $5650 with a 2 year warranty. Drives perfect again.
For some people that’s acceptable. Some people iys preposterous. I think it’s stellar considering the 10r80 issues.

How does it run after the service? Did you notice any significant change?
Interesting thread. My only take as I tow is that anyone who does tow, should seriously consider 30k ATF changes. I waited until 45k, and while shifting wasn't horrid, it was inconsistent. Much improved after drain and refill with new filter.

Agreed! pulled a camper for most the summer before we sold it , bought the truck used and had no carfax of transmission ever being done, I did it at 83,000 before our trip to Montana. It’s quite a difference in shift quality after just 7 quarts of fluid. Will be doing my filter at 100,000. I’m at 92,000 now.

Just did mine as well, but at 27K miles because I'd rather spend the $200 on fluid and a filter now than $10000 later on a new transmission w/ labor. Trying to get as much life out of this thing as I can.

Also decided install the PPE Deep-sump A356-T6 die-cast aluminum pan while I had it down. It has heat fins, an MPT port and a drain plug with a very strong magnet. Will do another fluid change around 60K.

Transmission report: After 27K miles the fluid still looked really good. Didn’t smell burnt, was a little bit dark, but still had a red hue to it. No glitter in the pan, magnet was completely clean. Filter magnet had some light clutch material on it, but other than that looked great.

Yes it fits with the RCI Transmission Skid plate. I have about 1.5 inches between the pan the skid. Radiant heat from the new pan + the small gap between the skid will create a convection effect which should actually keep the transmission cooler even without the skid.

So far temps are down about 15-20 degrees on my highway test (usually sits between 206-210, now it hovers around 190-195). Especially good for wheeling at low speeds.

Mine whines quite loud. Doesn’t matter if it’s cold or warm. It’s louder than the engine. It’s from the front pump gears. The way they are cut and how they mesh together during operation. Didn’t notice a difference in mine after I replaced the fluid.
I just had mine fully rebuilt at 180k miles and it is still whining. Maybe slightly less but the whine is still there.
