It will work. You may not be able to get all the way updates, but you will be able to get to at lteast Sync 22293; possibly higher depending on whether your truck is affected by the hold or not. The hard part will be getting it out of where you are not. You will need to use FDRS to create the USB update for the APIM. Once you insert it into the truck, you will need to wait 3-6 weeks before the update will kick off and the APIM will update. Once that happens, you will need another FRDS license to finish updating the APIM, GWM, TCU and IPC as far as it lets you go.Oh ok, sorry about that. No I'm not able to turn on auto updates. I sent you the VIN number late last year and your opinion was that its the same issue as stated. Im just wondering after reading all the latest posts if this procedure will work on my old version (im hearing that ford isnt allowing updates anymore or somethign? I cant even see what version im on from the about screen:
Yes and yes. Unless, you are one of the lucky ones where the APIM update takes right away. However, that usually only happens to people who can turn auto updates on and off; which is why I asked. If you are unable to, then 99% of the time, you will need to just drive the truck like you normally would and eventually you will see a message pop up on the touchscreen that the update is installing and then you follow the steps on the screen. Thanks - I will try that, but sounds like Ill need to then buy the 2 day subscription twice? ($120 USD x 2). After the initial steps, will I need the mongoose at a later date as well?
I thibk so but I would let rugedeaw reply back. I have the same screen and im screwed. I ordered all the parts to do this fix manually but then the subscription for ford went up alot. I dont want to pay 400 to 500 cdn to fix this.D![]()
Does this mean I'm screwed?
Truck is on Sync 21008 which is not one of normal Sync versions associated with the F150. It also shows an APIM was swapped into this truck June of last year.D

Thank you for the info, I upgraded to the 12inch Screen with an all in one kit I baught online. Came with all the dash pieces, screen, apim, and harness. Everything seems to work fine. I had no idea it as possible to even install a non f150 apim. So if I want updates should I look into getting a better apim? Or just accept what I have because everything works?Truck is on Sync 21008 which is not one of normal Sync versions associated with the F150. Your truck is also reporting this code:

This truck is a 301a package and that looks like a 12" screen. It looks like someone swapped the APIM to upgrade the screen and took the cheap route which most likely messed up the data on the server.
So in terms of updates, if I was a betting man and had to bet whether you are screwer or not, I would be that you're screwed.
Keep it as is. Chances are, the data between your truck and the server is corrupted, so you won't get updates now. The only thing you can do is find another APIM on Sync 22293 or higher so you can get at least have full-screen phone capability and just leave it as it. These Sync 4 vehicles are very senstive and you cannot swap APIMs without proper programming like on the older models.Thank you for the info, I upgraded to the 12inch Screen with an all in one kit I baught online.
