BMS Reset After New Battery

Hey all,

maybe this helps someone else from what happened to me. Replaced the original battery from 2021 yesterday with a Costco battery. I noticed random things stop working like the keyless entry, approach lights, the app, auto start stop, constant deep sleep mode/ energy saver mode, etc. so figured original battery was due to be replaced

replaced battery and saw things on BMS reset with the headlight flashing and brakes but my dash literally wasn’t showing the battery symbol and also after replacing I got a message saying battery charge low 12v or something like that. Without the battery symbol I didn’t know if the reset procedure was working or not.

long story short just waited until the next morning, turned the accessory on, battery symbol was there, was able to do the reset, and then the low battery message went away. I will say after replacing the battery the truck still acted fine just that message and the inability to do the reset.

From what I saw to reset the battery management system was headlights off, flash high beam 5x then right after hit brake pedal 3x with the parking brake off. Then the battery symbol flashes shortly after. There are some write ups on this on here and some YouTube videos under “BMS reset procedure”.

I did this and the battery red symbol flashed e 3 times and remains on. It is still on when button is pushed but engine not started.
Did I do something wrong or is it reset?

I think it’s supposed to stay on when the accessory is on. Mine flashed and stayed on and then once I started the truck it went away like normal

Believe it or not the BMS reset is in the Owner's Manual.

I recently did a battery replacement after 2 winters and also fully charged it before installing. Then did the BMS reset and left the vehicle alone for 12 hours. Made sure not to take the fob anywhere near it during that time. All the 'remote' features now work fine.

Also the truck has to be in Acc mode, not running.
